Did anyone buy the new Light Dome Pro Set? Man, it has gigs of videos. I don't like PDFs, but I'd much prefer some written instructions.

Finally had a chance to catch up.  Love what you did with the suds and dirt.  I am zero help on changing skins, although I am looking forward to waht you finally come up with. And thank you for sharing your process, I also learn a lot of new stuff when people share how they do things.

Oh, no problemo. Glad you liked it. =-)

I've been working on some male/male rescue poses. I should have it available next weekend. I have to test them, and see how they look.

I've discovered I really hate doing kneeling poses for some reason. That and I also dislike the way the forearm twists on Genesis 8. Plus there is too much space between the fingers on Gen 8.

  • Those poses look amazing. Do you like how Gen 7 s arms twist better? I have trouble with the upper arm on both- it often looks strange.

The arms in general, the necks, and the fingers are sort of unnatural. With the forearms they always seem to look distorted if you twist the forearm so the palm is face up. This is well within the capacity of the human arm but it torques the muscles of the male forearm so they visibly extrude. To counter this I usually have to twist the upper arm... but I should’ve able to twist the arm around. I do that all the time in real life.

the necks have long been a peeve. You absolutely have to use pose controls on the neck or the neck bends and looks odd. It also can extrude a lot looking like a turtle.

hands in particularly the thumb aren’t flexible enough and there is too much space between the fingers.

the shoulders can easily look off even using pose control....

So yes, I agree arms can look strange. They aren’t flexible enough and doing simple movements distorts the muscles.

  • Hi Serene, when you say ' you have to use pose controls on the neck', do you mean the universal tool?

  • Serene NightSerene Night Posts: 17,647

No, the pose controls. Which are on the head. If you expand down to the head, in your pose section, you will find pose controls for the neck. They allow the neck, and other parts to move smoothly. Smoother than just twist bend and such.. There are also pose controls for other parts. When using those tools you must bake the joints after before saving the pose

Here is the screenshot of Boyd's neck pose controls..

On the topic of women's clothing on the dudes, This is hip hop outfit on the men. I found there was distortion if I used plain autofit on the top, so I changed the scene identification and it fit great.

If ever I do a pic with a horse, it's never from the rear :)   Great pic, though.

Thanks for the poses, too  kiss

This is the 'lopsided birthday cake' freebie from the Messy Baker Set 8: Lopsided Birthday Cake freebie at Rendo. They are for poser, but work really well in DAZ studio.

The set recolors nicely too with plenty fo mat zones. I used the shaders from PBS Shaders Volume II, which has FOOD shaders, to spruce up the chocolate. Any plastic latex texture will work for the writing.

The plate was not round, so I replaced it with one from studio. Also, sadly the candles didn't have modeled flames, so I hid them.

Do birthday cake candles with modelled flames exist? If so, let me know.

Everything in this scene is a freebie or was a freebie item at one time.

I wanted to try most of the Messy Baker Props from Rendo. Most look really good. You have to tweak the textures a bit, to get them to look nice, but it is worth it. Most of the food items can be tweaked with https://www.daz3d.com/mec4d-pbs-shaders-vol-2-for-iray  For example, the chocolate kisses, the oil, the plastic container, and the eggs, and  the contents of the measuring cup, were all options from that set. I recolored the eggs using the orange juice shader, and the egg white using the volumetric gummy bear shader.

I added the Christmas Cookie set which was a freebie from last year. The cookies had gray added to the base, which looked odd, so I removed that and added golden brown. The Pie was a freebie at Rendo. The Kitchen is https://www.daz3d.com/collective3d-portrait-vignettes-horror-2  Most people don't realize there is a clean texture in the set. I raised the table up a bit, and added a diffuse to the tiles, so they weren't so bright.

The bowl has a morph to fill it up, but I was unsuccessful at making that visible.

Really nice work on the textures/shaders. Now that looks like a food prep area. You just need one of the boys stealing some of the cookies.

Thank you, Boyd likes most sweets but Owen has a fondness for Christmas sugar cookies. Sadly they don’t seem to have a model of a traditional iced cookie.

There's this set which I think must have been a holiday freebie in the past: https://www.daz3d.com/christmas-cookies

The black-and-whites are traditionally sugar cookies, as I recall.

There are some good non-holiday cookies in the Candy Cakes Dessert Pack and Exnem's Cookies, also both at Rendo.

Thanks. I love that set except for the gray added to the diffuse on those Hershey’s kisses cookies. This is what I was thinking of..

Actually, while I was looking for something slightly different, I ran across this: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/old-fashioned-christmas-for-daz-studio/123929/

It has a cookie plate with exactly what you're looking for. Iray materials -- although I think I'd be tempted to redo them slightly so that they were glossier, but still, exactly what you need. Very slightly on sale for another day and change.

Someone wrote me they were disappointed the Z  Power of the Kiss poses did not include any Male/Male poses. So I made 2 for the first male/female couple pose. They are original and meant to go with Pose 01 and Pose 02 for genesis 8 Male which you'll need to buy to have these poses make sense. Some tweaking of arms may be needed, due to the shape differences and the closeness of the figures. Since I can't alter the Z pose, and distribute it, you have to make those alterations if needed yourself after you buy it.

My pose are nothing like the female poses included, as I deleted all the female  poses after dim installed them.

I was kind of intrigued to make a male alternate pose for the existing male pose. It proved an interesting challenge. I think the problem is, when you make men's poses you need to be able to expand the arms to encompass a larger figure, and you are making poses for characters of similar height, it is tough when the figure should be embracing Genesis 8 female, due to those shape differences. I think it would be easier to make the entire couples set from scratch... But I was up for the challenge. Given those limitations, here are two for you... So that your male guys can enjoy kiss power as well. smiley

Well, it is by the Devious Dolls, and they do male content. Though it's usually male characters.
