mac help wanted
dear all,
after updating my computers on daz studeio 4.6 yesterday daz does not open on my main computer anymore
i am not an einstein when it´s about system and problems and such
does anyone know how to start to find problem?
i am really unhappy cause i like to start but i can´t :o(((
on my laptop the programm runs very smooth
i am using a 64 bit mac
i wanted to attache the protocol but i can´t
i´ll try to post it the other way
it says really nothing to me...
can anyone pls help?!?!

after updating my computers on daz studeio 4.6 yesterday daz does not open on my main computer anymore
i am not an einstein when it´s about system and problems and such
does anyone know how to start to find problem?
i am really unhappy cause i like to start but i can´t :o(((
on my laptop the programm runs very smooth
i am using a 64 bit mac

It's not really clear what you did. Did you update to DAZ Studio 4.6 or did you update Mac OS X?
The problem is that DAZ Studio is struck reading from the Content Manager System.
So please be a little more specific on what you did update and I might see what went wrong.
ok... sorry... i was not clear at all...
first i updated daz.... than it didn´t run very smooth anymore.
that´s why i uninstalled everything related to DAZ and installed again...
so it´s a new package...
i did that also in hope to have my library cleared... it was a mess and i don´t get it where what belongs etc...
after new installation of DAZ 4.6 and new installation of all content it is really bad...
when application opens it freezes at some point

right now programm runs... but only every 20th time it opens

When you removed, did you uninstall the DAZ Content Manager System?
And when you installed again, did you install with DIM or manually.
I suspect that you removed the "My Library" or c´what ever you called the content directory, but the CMS still thinks it's there.
When you install you get an option to place the Database somewhere (If you use the manual install), try a different location to be sure that you have a fresh content database.
Merged duplicate threads - if you want this moved to another area, DAZ Studio Discussions would be more logical than Nuts N Bolts, please ask a mod to move it for you - either send a PM or post the request to the thread.

ok.... here is what i tried now:
i have uninstalled everything with DIM
than i uninstalled DIM itself
than i downloaded DAZ STUDIO 4.6 for 64 bit mac manually
i didn´t download any content to keep it simple
i choose a different folder than before
still the same problem... when i start the application it freezes when it´s initializing devices
than i uninstalled again
and installed on another harddrive... with the same result...
any ideas what the conflict might be?

You did NOT uninstall the CMS, Content Management Service. It is installed with Daz Studio but is NOT uninstalled with DS, it has it's own uninstaller. If the CMS Database is corrupted or CMS does not Start then Smart content and other features in DS will fail.
Many overlook the CMS when they wish to do a full clean uninstall and reinstall. I do not know if that is a issue here but it is a step many miss.
Make sure that you uninstall the CMS. Go to /Library/DAZ 3D/Content Management Service/Uninstallers and run Remove-DAZContentManagementService.app located there. After the uninstaller application ends, delete the Content Management Service folder.
I prefer to use DIM to install my DAZ stuff, but is up to you, and it depends if you have a lot of content installed and have customized your metadata. So, I would run the DAZ Studio uninstaller as well and would use the DIM to a fresh start.
If you agree, just uninstall DAZ Studio also. Install DIM again, and from them install DAZ Studio and the content and plug-ins. I am running DAZ Studio 4.6.0.18 on OS X 10.8 without any glitch.
