Question about DIM and Content

Hello everyone,

I just moved last month and am only now almost done getting settled...lol. I am in the process of reinstalling and organizing my content :-).

I was wondering if I could do something like this as long as I map the directory in DazStudio?

C:\DAZ Content\V4\Free
C:\DAZ Content\V4\Paid

The reason I want to do it that way is so that I can tell what was free and paid for from the DAZ Store :-). Is this doable? Thank you all for the help and patience. Have a wonderful day/night :-).

Yes, as long as you map and install to them as 2 separate runtimes.

To expand on that: you need to list both "C:\DAZ Content\V4\Free" and "C:\DAZ Content\V4\Paid" as content folders (both DS-format and Poser-format); you can't just list "C:\DAZ Content" or "C:\DAZ Content\V4". Also, all V4 morphs have to be in the same folder -- you can't have some in one and some in the other (you can for Genesis or G2F, but not for the earlier figures).

Thank you Vaskania for the quick reply :-). I guess it would not work the way I wanted to do it...lol...sigh.... as that would leave me with 2 V4 folders. Maybe I will just install to C:\DAZ Content\V4 to make it easier on myself...lol.

If nothing else I could always browse to the folder I download to to determine if that item was free or paid :-). Thank you again for the help.

That is how I was planning on doing it fixmypcmike. Thank you for the clarification :-). Are you talking about the Morphs++,Elite Morphs,A4 Morphs,etc... having to be in the same folder as V4? If so that is what I was going to do also including the initializing process when I add new morphs :-). Thank you fixmypcmike and Vask !! Have a wonderful weekend.

Me thinks I better hit the sack now as I have a wedding to go to tomorrow...lol.

When I separated my content out, I created a separate Freebies runtime in general. No matter what it is if it's a freebie, it goes there. I also have a separate Generation 4 runtime where all of my paid gen4 stuff gets plopped.

ohhhh that sounds like a really good idea Vask. I wonder if I do the Gen4 way will I still be able to seperate it into like V4, A4,etc...? Thank you for all the help :-).

Since anything for A4 or G4 will also work on V4, I like to keep them together.
