I need help. So I don't know why but before that I didn't have this problem. I noticed it today. When I import model to Daz Studio, the "Smooth" option is "on" but the model still looks unsmooth in some parts. I see it in Iray rendering. I don't know exactly what to do I probably did everything to fix it but nothing goes happen.

  • You mean the surface smoothing option? If so are you sure the unsmoothed areas have weleded geometry? If they are just separate polygons sitting next to each other they won't be smoothed - that works only across connected mesh. If that isn't what you mean, or if that doesn't seem to eb the cause of the problem, please post soem more information on what you are doing - and ideally add some images.

  • Yes but model has several separate meshes but before despite that was good. I installed Daz again but it did not help. Maybe something is changed in the options. I'm confused about it. And if about screenshots I can't send now

I use Daz Studio 4.10 Pro. I've looked at the "surfaces" option and the Smooth option is still on and Angle is at 180.00%. The problem I am trying to describe is in the attachment.

    And moved

  • Sorry, I missed your reply.

If you go to Tools>Geometry Editor, click on one of the facet polygons, and then prest cmd(Mac)/ctrl(Win) * what area of the mesh is highlighted - just the area clicked, or a wider area? (You then need to seelct another tool, from the Tools menu or the tool bars, to go back to regular posing.)

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it does not work. By the way when I uninstalled and installed the program again when I move with the camera, the model disappears and appears. The previous problem also too. However when Daz Studio is reinstalled, the problems do not disappear.

  • No, they wouldn't - it's either the model or settings, neither of which will be affected by uninstalling and reinstalling.

What ddi not work? The Geometry Editor Tool? Did you have the model selected? What happend when you followed my steps?

  • I do not quite understand. What should I do after selection. Sorry I do not know English very well.
    1. Select the model that looks bad in the scene
    2. Go to the Tools menu and click Geometry Editor
    3. Click on the model where it is not smoothing - one polygon shoudl now show the hihglight colour
    4. Hold down the ctrl key, if you are using WIndows, or the command key if you are using a Mac, and press the * key. let go of the ctrl or cmd key
    5. Has more of the model changed to the highlight colour, or does it still look the way it looked when you clicked n the model?
  • When I export model I see that smoothing does not give those 100% even when I have Angle to the end. I export the model to another animation program and loaded it again in Daz studio and when I give smoothing to the end, it works. I dont know what is wrong but it probably does not give me the whole option of smoothing quality. But besides when I move the camera the model appears and disappears even when model is selected.
  • On the disappearning model, go to the Draw Settings pane. What option do you have under Manipulation Draw Style?

  • Okay I changed in Manipulation Draw Style 'Switch to Solid Bounding Box' to "Use Current (Off)'.It works. Thank you for all help!
