Mystified by behavior of a texture template.

Hello again ^_^ I seem to be coming to this forum quite often ;)

Can someone please explain what is happening with a blank texture template. It is the back fin template included in the Creature Creation pack.

What's happening is, I painted the blank fin template using Paint.net, and saved it as a JPEG. When it loaded in DS, the left side looked exactly how I painted it, with no transparency and no ribs showing. However the right side has transparency to it, and all the ribs are showing, which can't be seen on the side I painted. And the colors are very different.

Thanks in advance for your patient explanations... I"m glad there's a forum for us newbies... ^_^

EDIT: I solved my own problem. There was some pretty strange lighting in the scene. When I removed that, the fin turned out to be the same on both sides after all ^_^;

    I've seen this a lot when an older product disagrees with new lighting.

    That's very interesting. Any idea of exactly what causes it?
