Rendering shows no progress although image looks comlete

When i Render a scene with a large envirorment and use Memory on optimization. Rendering shows no progress although
image looks comlete, The progress is still at zero. Why is that?

  • The progress bar is showing the percentage of the target convergence achieved. It may be that pixels look right to the human eye while Iray still thinks they are unconverged, and so not contributing to the progress bar.

    Ok, Thanks

As Richard points out the progress bar is based on percentage of convergence, a measure of how pixels compare to one another after a series of separate complete samples of the whole image.

But to point a finer point on it, convergence is an estimate only based on a number of interpretations by a machine. Iray is trying to judge completeness by comparing the value of multiple samples to the same pixels, as well as the average variance of pixels and their neighbors. It's quite possible for the thing to stick at 0 or 5%, and be completely finished as far as a human is concerned.

Just look for the tell-tale sign of "grittiness" that foretells incomplete convergence.
