Dynamic questions
I am often frustrated by the fact that clothing does not fit on V4 when i pose the character. There are sometimes workarounds, but mostly its bit of a trial getting things to fit and post work is often required to cure poke through. I keep seeing dynamic clothing mentioned but have little idea what this is, apart from this section from an ad for dynamic clothing.
Dynamic Clothes flow with your character's shape in a more natural way. With conforming clothes, no matter what method you use, greater alterations made to your character from the base mesh will cause your clothes to have a more unnatural fit. Particularly difficult fits are caused by extreme shapes. Nothing fits more natural than dynamic clothing since these clothes don't fight the geometry, but instead flow with it. This creates exciting visual details with wrinkles and folds that dynamically change depending on your pose, further enhancing realism in your renders.
Well that sounds as if the days of worrying about fitting clothes is over! Or is it…
Will dynamic clothing work for me as a Mac user on OS 10.7, i have seen issues mentioned but not what these are. Will dynamic clothing work for V4 or is it only genesis figures, and if i am able to take advantage of dynamic clothing, how do i do so. Is it its buying the clothes and getting my genesis to wear them. Somehow i can't see life being that simple. so anyone know of a simple straightforward explanation of Dynamic clothing, how to use it, and any tutorials for it.
Thank you

It should work on a Mac as far as I know.
Almost all Dynamic clothing is made for V4 or M4, but it can usually work on Genesis as well, since they are of similar size and build.
The basic Dynamic Clothing Control (DCC) is part of DS, and you will find it in Window > Tabs > Dynamic Clothing Control. There is a load of free clothing on the Optitex site here: http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/FreebieDownload01.php Download and try some of them. they have their own EXE installers in a ZIP file, just install them to your My Library folder or whatever you use.
It is normal to use an animated drape for dynamic stuff, and there should be documentation for that. The full plugin is for sale in the store (paid for), but try the basic one first, it can do a good job.
EDIT:
Some tutorials here on the Optitex site : http://www.optitex-dynamiccloth.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=3&sid=ee622ff771506d3ff854c479733a68c8
Hi Jimmy
First it seems to work on my mac, so no problems there.Thank you for the link to optitex which is great and offers a lot of freebies that helps very much when your trying to see if something will work, or maybe more to the point, if i can figure out how it works. The tutorials are very helpful too, though one criticism of some is that there is no commentary with them, hard to follow without someone telling you whats happening.
I have obtained a free dress and applied to V4, and had a go. Its quite amazing to watch the material adjust itself, almost as though some kind of magic is involved, mesmerising. Unfortunately at the end, when the dress looks perfect the process stops and lots of poke through appears. There has to be a way to solve this, but thats a question of my persevering and learning.
Thank you so much
