DAZ Studio 4.6 (64-Bit) won't start - **SOLVED**
Hello,
My main PC has broken so I am trying to use DAZ Studio on my Laptop. When I try to start DAZ Studio 4.6 (64 bit), I get this error message:
'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application'.
Does any one know how to solve this problem?
My PC (all the latest drivers have been checked, installed and updated):
Laptop 64-bit
Windows 8 Pro 64-Bit
AMD Phenom II N970 Quad-core processor
6.0GB ram
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series
Software: DAZ Studio 4.6 (64-Bit) latest version, installed with the install manager. I have tried various uninstalls and re-installations, but had no luck.
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
Regards,
Paul

First try right-clicking and Run as administrator when starting, if that doesn't help you could try the extreme of un-installing CMS.
I'm no Windows expert but there is a thread about a DLL (or library) that is no longer in Windows 8 (I think) that you need to download from Microsoft. Some Windows person might know exactly what.
I guess you are talking about this
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948854
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26347
Not sure if it will fix this one though.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
I tried what has been suggested. but still no success yet.
I think this is going to be a difficult one.

I googled on the error and it seems it has to do with bad disk allocation blocks or a bad file image and one solution seems to be to run checkdisk. 28k hits so its pretty common.
Yes it does seem to be something other than the normal windows problesm.
You could go here and ask.
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8?auth=1#Window
There are a few queries about this error number there already, but not in the Win 8 section, mostly for win 7 and earlier, but it does seem to be caused by a windows problem, according to the answers
Or else someone else came up with this http://www.wiki-errors.com/wiki-errors.php?wiki=0xc000007b
Adding
ok little bit more reserch this error is most likely a result of a 32-bit (x86) executable trying to load a 64-bit (x64) DLL.

where are you installing DS to as the little bit of research I did has this happening more often with programs installed to the Program files (x86) folder which the 64 bit version of DS should not be.
Did you download or have ilivid download manager ? Numerous people, whom download this program, recieved this error using various software programs, such as Adobe softwares, the fix was to uninstall ilivid, replace two .dll files. A few tried windows repair or reinstall windows, which resolved the issue. Good luck.
Hello,
I tried most the suggested methods above, but still no luck yet.
I think a complete windows re-install will be the only way, or I must wait for my main damaged PC to be repaired.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
Paul
before you do a complete reinstall try running a reliable Anti Virus and / or Malware checker.'' And did you try "Repair"
Finally solved my problem.
Windows 8 stated that I had the latest screen drivers for my graphics card ATI Radeon HD, but when I checked the AMD website, the screen driver was not up-to-date.
I downloaded the latest driver for my Laptop screen and now all is working. Just goes to show you, that you can't always trust the Windows 8 update driver check.
Many thanks to everyone for the help, it was much appreciated.
Best regards,
Paul
Glad you have got it sorted, and you have now learned that it is unwise to trust windoze to update your graphics drivers
Could you do uis a favour and add (SOLVED) to you thread title, so if anyone else does get the same error they can see there is a solution. THanks
