Problems using poser props
I need some help on using 3rd party props in DAZ 3d 4.6. I am completely new to DAZ 3D and I know it is something that I am doing but so far have not been able to figure it out. I am very experience at 3D graphics development having done many aircraft for Microsoft flight simulator so I am very familiar with the pitfalls of importing 3rd party objects into another application. I know I am shooting myself in the foot somewhere.
I have a simple Poser object downloaded from the web (a chair from a popular site for DAZ 3D content) and have loaded it into DAZ 3D. I copied the Poser Files (folder did not exist in DAZ) and runtime (folder did exist) folders to my content folder. After restarting DAZ 3D I can go to My Content and see the Poser folder but it is not the same color as the other folders. I can drill down to the chair but double clicking on it does nothing where in the other folders double clicking will cause the object to appear in the scene. Where do I go from here? Where is the error log in DAZ 3D so I can get some clues? Thanks for any assistance.
I have tried multiple props and clothes but so far with no success.

Sorry for being so dense here but this thread has a whole collection of different methods. Which post are you refering to? How do I tell a DIM zip file from a Poser, etc. I read this over twice but still don't see which method to use.
I don't know what you mean by the Poser Files (did not exist). Poser content is usually supplied inside a runtime folder, and you would simply merge that with the existing one.
You also mention going to My Content, do you mean Smart Content or the Content Library pane? It will almost certainly not appear in Smart Content, you will need to look in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats in the library you installed it to (My Library or My DAZ 3D Library)
An image of what you are seeing would be useful.
Here is a link to my OLD version of Hand installing POSER content to DS4. You will want the PDF version. I have not as yet finished the new one for the Thread you were linked to before.

The zip file contained two folders, one titled "runtime" and the other "Poser Files". I copied both to the contents directory. Since there were no instructions included with the file I copied both to the contents directory. There was already a Runtime folder so that was merged. There was not a folder called "Poser Files in the content library so it simply copied. Since it is not needed then this should not have an effect.
And I am referring to the 'Content Library" tab on the right side. I would expect there to be an entry in the props but there is nothing I could find that wasn't stock DAZ content. The runtime file contained the following:
\runtime\textures\VirtualFurniture\chair003wo\ with a collection of jpg textures and a .bum file.
\runtime\libraries\props\Virtual Furniture with a .pp2 and a .rsr file.
\runtime\geometries\VirtualFurniture\chair003wo\ with a .Mtl and a .obj file.
I attached a image of the content library but I am not sure what will help. If you can tell me specifically what you need to see I will get it.
Your Showing the Scenes folder selected not the Props Folder. You have a Link to the Item? I'll show you how to install it.
I see Your Poser Files., entry, sorry, but Poser items cant sit in the DAZ Studio part if the Content library.
Power content must reside inside the Runtime structure. If you got a Poser Item it most likely came with its Runtime structure. Props goes to Runtime:libraries:Prop, Textures To Runtime:Textures, but its is deadly important that you have exactly the same structure as the prop came in, or is described in the read me, or it wont find geometrices or textures.
Those 's'es in the folder icons means you are look in the DAZ Studio Format not the Poser Format part of the Content Library
Jaderail, you had given me the solution yesterday but I couldn't get it. I could not download your pdf for some reason but after I got it today the answer was where I was looking for the objects. Step 10 says to pick the objects from POSER FORMATS. There it all was, ready to be used. I had done the installation properly but I didn't know where to look for the objects. Thanks all for the help everyone. Now I can start doing something constructive.
