Unaccompanied .obj files - What folder do they go in?

WinterMoonWinterMoon Posts: 2,010

So I'm obviously new to all this. It's been around a month since I first started playing around with DS. So I'm a little stumped on what to do when a download only contains .obj files, and no directory folders to help them find the way home. Where do they live? (I would have thought "Props," but I couldn't actually find any .ojb files in there.)

Please forgive my daft question, because it's probably not the last one I'll ask. blush

You can place them anywhere, as you'd have to import them into DAZ Studio if you'd want to use them.

Okay. Importing it was easy enough, but I couldn't "save" it in DS. When I closed it and opened it back up, the prop I had imported was nowhere to be found. Do I just have to import it every time I'm using it? And what about the textures that came with the set? https://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?item_id=79727 Here's the building I'm trying to import, anyway. I'm still confused.

What I do /have done is create an OBJECT folder in the RUNTIME/GEOMETRIES folder and that is where I put and thing that needs to be imported ,then in Studio I import from that folder and save as a scene subset in the Props folder in My Library ,or where ever it makes sense to you. That way it's there the next time you need it.

Ahaaaa! Thank you for the tip! I'll do that, and see if that doesn't work just fine for me as well.
