Keyboard shortcuts?

Is there any way to define a new keystroke combination for a particular action?  Many word processors have ways to do this, is this possible in DAZ Studio 4.10?

For example:  I have several cameras.  It is cumbersome to use the mouse to switch from one camera to another..  I would like to define "Front camera" to <ALT + F1> and right camera to <ALT + F2>.

  • You can set shortcuts by going to Window>Workspace>Customise. Find the action/command you want on the left, right-click, select chnage Keyboard short-cut (from memory), and then press the key combination you want to use.

I know about that one, but what I am looking for is not in the menu for Window>Workspace>Customise.  Is there some way to assign a keystroke shortcut to switch beteeen cameras.  Also, I find that I am using edit>figure>zero>zero selected.  Again, it would be nice to assign a shortcut for an action that is deeply buried in many menues.  This too does not seen to be in the customize menue.

An idea, is there a way to write a script to do that.  I'm not sure that this would save time like a shortcut would.

  • I wrote a simple script to move through the camera list, which you could turn into a custom action and run with a shortcut (but as it stands it is only cameras, not views) https://www.dropbox.com/s/gxvyefaoptw701e/Camera steppers.zip?dl=0

The Zero commands, including Zero Selected item(s), are in the Parameters group in the Customise dialogue.

I found it.  I tried a simple command in the parameters menue "Collapse all" which I defined to be the <C> keystroke.  The customize menue shows that <C> is now a shortcut.  When I tried to see if it works, nothing happens. What is the problem? I am using studio 4.10.

  • Do you have any expanded entries in the group list?

I'm not sure about what you are referring to.  If you mean Scene in the auxillary view, then there are expanded entries.  In the menu for the auxilarry view there is "collapse all", which works.  The "colllapse all" in the customize menu shows that the proper keystroke has been redefined (in this case it is <Z>).

When I press the <Z> key, nothing happens even though the customize menu shows the new shortcut..

Yes, but it's in the Parameters action list. There's also a Collapse All in the Scene Hierarchy action list, which does work as you are expecting (well, I added it to a toolbar rather than a assigning a shortcut). That said, the Collapse all in the Parameters action list is also not collapsing the groups in the Parameters pane, which I thought might be its purpose, so I'm not sure what it is for.
