    September 8th (the US debur for classic Trek) once again lands on Thursday this year.  How apt.

  • I remain amused that Star Trek Day, despite the efforts of Paramount and various writers and actors, doesn't have nearly the splash as the organic celebration of Threshold Day does.

  • In case anyone is interested, there is a great Jeri Ryan morph for Genesis 8 on Deviantart from user Magnus1781.  No textures for her as of yet, so you'll have to use what you've got.  I know the hair and uniform aren't right.  I have both converted from old V4 assets, but they really don't look good on this morph, so I decided to give her a post-Voyager appearance instead, halfway between Voyager and Picard.

  • Not bad! I'd really like a Picard-era Seven morph. There aren't a lot of attractive middle-aged characters out there. Seems like everyone's either a 20 year old hottie or an 80 year old crone.

    My favorite Jeri Ryan morph remains Voyager Knights for V3. Yes, V3. (I really think that generation of DAZ figures was the best for getting a likeness. There's more polys in the face, I think. Or they are arranged better) I use a weight-mapped V3 for better bending. It's a for sale product, but I love it. Good texture, and comes with the eye prop.

    Question for the group; Does anyone know of set similar to the council room at the end of ST:IV? Barring that, something that can be made to look like it? Thanks

    From what I recall, it's a fairly simple set. Should be pretty easy to recreate it.

    Just curious about something I'm working on the Kelvin by Tobias Richter and the ship is almost done except for the decals. How do I ket them to look the part? This is a straight conversion from LWO to OBJ using POV-Moray converter then into Daz. The registries are supposed to look different but I can't seem to sort it out.

    Nicely done! I haven't rigged anything in DAZ yet, but I might grab them for when I do start rigging; I think they fit in nicely with the current style I'm using. 

  • I've been working with XCalpro's Gorn head, retexturing and creating morph targets.  :)

    For anyone interested, I also have created a fan film called "The Gorn Imperative."

  • Can anyone help, I am looking for Discovery Season 4 uniforms for DAZ that I can recolor to look like this.

    You could do it with Courageous and Valiant, made for V4 and M4, and still, IMO, the best clothing for making Trek uniforms out of. (And you can often get them really cheap if you wait for a sale, since they are older products.)

    I gather it's possible to convert V4 and M4 clothing to newer figures in DAZ Studio.

    The Defiant set for Genesis might be nice, one texture set for both genders.

    Thanks for that, man.  Been waiting patiently for these for awhile.  For some reason when I load the morphs in, the eyes are distorted.  How would you recommend importing them into Daz?

    If you mean, the eyes positioning doesn't line up to the bone positition, 'adjust rigging to shape'. That should fix it.

     

     

    Also I've begun my next round of DAZ 'Trek conversions. Deep Space Nine. Quark and the Ferrengi may be a problem but everyone else so far is turning out fine.

  • Nearly all the source models that I'm turning into Genesis 8 figures came from Star Trek Fleet Command, and Voyager has already been confirmed to be the first content ark of next year. Currently it's Deep Space Nine. - Which of course to me came to the game a lot later than I had hoped.. but according to my source it was because of some legal trouble regarding the likenss of Rene' Auberjonois. So I'm not expecting a model of Odo. Just a pre-rendered image... not to worry though I still have the one from Star Trek Online.

     

    As for Jadzia Dax I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to get the Trill spots pattern to go all the way down to her feet on the textures.

    Gul Dukat I think turned out great.

     

    The fact that the game added the Cardassians, Bajorans, and Dominion as new factions to the game, even going as far as to add the Gamma Quadrant to STFC's Galaxy map basically confrims to me that when they get to Voyager we'll see the Delta Quadrant species. My guess is the three most obvious, the Kazon, Hirogen, Malon but what would really surprise me if we see examples of one-off races like the Kobali, Vaadwuar, Turei, Octanti, Voth, Krenim etc.

    It's because I honestly lack the real photoshop/gimp skills to reall match up the colors effectively.

  • My countermeasure was to hide the inconsistently with skin tone with gloves.

  • I'm really glad that Fleet Command gave the DS9 officers the First Contact uniform. That one is my absolute favorite hands down. Followed closely by the Odyssey uniform from STO... which I did make an honest attempt to set up.

    It says it's for Poser but it could probably be used in DS

    Says geometry and textures for seven consoles

    It's also at Sharecg

    Why not just use a station from the Ptrope's bride set (based upon modeling by Sean Kennedy).  Even if one is not that concerned about "screen accuracy", it's a FAR better modeled item.  This?  This looks like something from the era of Poser 4, neigh, Poser 3!
