Confused with too much Victoria's
Hello,
I'm somewhat confused about the different characters.
I saw lot's of content for Victoria 4 so I tried to buy it (or her)
This is what I got:
first I bought Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female but then I realized this isn't a character so I got Victoria 4.2 Base
Neighter of those work well with the other things i got for Victoria 4
Evening Dress for V4 : kind of works on genesis2. I get a message asking if I want to convert it. some options for style of the dress don't work. nothing shows up in the smart content window even if i have the dress selected.
V4 Elite Texture: Katie
Compatible 3D Figures Victoria 4, Victoria 4 Elite
Seems to work on Victoria 4.2, but doesn't look much like Katie in the picture of the product and I don't seem to have much sliders to change her. I remember I could make a lot of expressions with the free basic stuff, but i can't find that anymore
Pumps and Stocking For V4A4G4
Compatible 3D Figures Victoria 4, Victoria 4 Elite
Doesn't work on any character. it puts a shoe somewhat near a character but i have to fit it myself.
If that's the case, no problem, but i'd like to know what it's supposed to do before I spend 2 hours to fit a shoe.
none of it shows up in the left window, no matter what I select, I can navigate to the textures in the right window and that seems to work for some of the color options.
Orion Hair: works on Victoria 4.2 and Genesis but not so well on Genesis2 with that victoria4 for Genesis, but this one works best of all I bought
If it works on 4.2 i'm happy :)
So now I'm a little confused.
How many Victoria 4's are there?
1- Victoria 4 (can't find it in the shop)
2- Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 (just a slider)
3- Victoria 4 Elite ???
4- victoria 4.2
The following package shows the confusion well:
Titel : Victoria 4 3D Model Pro Suite
description : Victoria 4.2 3D Model Pro Suite
Compatible 3D Figures Victoria 4
This includes everything in the Victoria 4.2 Starter Bundle and Pro Bundle, the V4 Elite Bundle, Victoria 4 Muscle Morphs, Creature Creator Morphs and Add Ons, Victoria 4.2 Bodysuit, and V4 Unimesh Clothing Bundle #3 making this the absolute best value for your money of all the Victoria 4 bundles
I have no clue...
Take advantage of everything you need to get started with Victoria 4 NOW!
Wait..wasn't it Victoria 4.2 ?
Where's the normal Victoria 4 all this stuff is supposed to fit :)
I know I have lot's to learn but this is really confusing for a beginner. I'm sure it's a great programm but i'm not sure what I have to buy anymore.
Questions to the point:
1 - Where's Victoria 4
2 - Is Victoria 4.2 the same as Victoria Elite ?
2 - Now that I have Victoria 4.2, can I get some examples of packages that work well with her please?
for example, I'd like to buy
Victoria 4.2 Morphs++
but it says:
NOTE: Victoria 4.2 requires Mac OSX 10.3.9 or higher in order to work properly.
Guess that message is just for Mac users right? works with windows?
Bright Eyes Bundle
works with any existing Gen 4 characters
Compatible 3D Figures Victoria 4, Victoria 4 Elite
And Victoria 4.2 ? Does it work for her?
Black Kitty
Compatible 3D Figures : Victoria 4, Victoria 4 Elite
And Victoria 4.2 ?
Thanks for your patience, I'm sure it's all very simple once you get the hang of it, but it's rather frustrating buying stuff I can't use.

It is confusing!
The figures available for Daz Studio and Poser have been developed over the years until a few years back they got to 'generation 4'. As part of this 'Gen4' figure roll-out was Victoria 4. She had a few upgrades, going to V4.1 and finally to V4.2. You can get various products for V4 (generally people just say 'V4' as anything made for the orioginalV4 or V4.1 will work with V4.2), including Morphs++ 9which add a lot of flexibility on how you can shape your Victoria figure) as well as Elite morphs.
After the Gen4 figures came, not a huge amount of time ago, the next generation of figure: Genesis. This is a figure that comes in a gender neutral base form, but also comes with basic morphs to produce a Basic Female shape (as well as Basic Male). Just like with V4 you can get additional products to add to the figure's flexibility. As installed the basic Genesis figure can use the skin textures for V4. It can also use, via the auto-fit process you have found, a lot of the clothing for V4 (heeled shoes and long skirts/dresses can be an issue). One of the additional products you can extend Genesis with is one that produces a morphed figure that very closely matches the shape and size of the original V4.
Even more recently a new figure Genesis 2 Female was released. This figure CANNOT natively use V4 skin textures or clothing via auto-fit, but there has been a product released (the "Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Female"" you bought) which adds that capability to the figure.
When compatible figures are listed you will see V4, A4 (Aiko 4, a morph for V4), G4 (The Girl 4), S4 (Stephanie 4 - another morph for V4), or listed like VAGS4. Those all refer to the actual, 'original' figures. Items which require Genesis will say Genesis or Victoria 5 (or one of the other characters devleoped for the Genesis figure). You will likewise see similar things with Genesis 2 Female, but the character anmes will tend to end in 6.
Yes its confusing. Ridicously so. Maybe it would have been wise not to follow in George Foreman's footsteps and apply unique names to each figure varient. What the fixation with Victoria is I don't know.
There is a lot of content for Victoria 4, so that's a good place to start if you are new. There's a WEALTH of information on all the history and relationships of the generations in the forums, but do a GOOGLE search with your questions instead of using the forum search and you'll find it faster. (A generation would be like Generation 4 which is the Victoria 4, Michael 4, Stephanie 4, etc. And Generation 5 would be the same- Victoria 5, Michael 5, etc)
If you repeatedly have problems with something, just post- sorry to see you're frustrated. Getting morph packs and installing them right away prevents the "um, this isn't working" from happening to you.
I agree, this is all very confusing.
There was a Victoria 4, 4.1 and then 4.2. The 4.1 and 4.2 were minor enhancements. Any clothing or other product that says it works with Victoria 4 or Victoria 4.1 should work fine with 4.2. The 4.0 and 4.1 versions are not available anymore.
There is also the Victoria 4.2 Morphs++ (http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-morphs). These are a powerful set of morphs that allow you to change the shape of the face and body. Almost all V4 characters you buy here or at other sites require the Morphs++. This is sometimes called just Victoria 4.2++, which means Victoria 4.2 with the Morphs++. The Victoria 4.2 Starter Bundle (http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-complete) includes both the base character and the Morphs++.
Victoria 4 Elite usually refers to the V4 Elite Body Shapes(http://www.daz3d.com/v4-elite-body-shapes), which is a different set of morphs for V4.2. If a character says it requires V4 Elite, it is probably using some of these elite body morphs, perhaps mixed with morph++.
There are also Elite skin textures, for example V4 Elite Texture: Lana (http://www.daz3d.com/v4-elite-texture-lana). These are just skin textures. The Elite skin textures are intended to be high quality, more realistic textures. They can be used without the Elite Body Shapes. There is a bundle that includes 3 Elite skin textures and the Elite body morphs, V4 Elite Bundle (http://www.daz3d.com/v4-elite-bundle).
I hope this helps reduce the confusion.
I hope its ok to say this on this forum, but a word of caution if you're planning to do anything of an adult nature with Victoria....some of the more essential products for that kind of art are only compatible with V4.2 and above. ;-)
Thank you all for clearing this up for me!
what I'm most interested in is the face and being able to change it to my liking. Most of my early work are portraits, my most sophisticated tools were: pencil 0.2 and Kneeding gum 1.0
I think I'll buy those morph packs and see if that gets me what i want (i'll try some googeling first this time)
So Victoria 6 is the latest model if I got it right this time, and she's based on Genesis 2, and then others are based on Victoria 6...
But 6 doesn't have face morph add-ons I think so I'll wait a while to get that.
It's almost as complicated as Hair, face and body mods for Skyrim.
Victoria 6 is morph of Genesis 2 Female, (personally I don't find her that appealing) the base package adds new UV mapping that you would need to use texture sets designed for V6.
well I bought the Victoria 4.2 morph ++
Unfortunately it crached my computer after a while. So I threw in the 32 version of Daz. It works, but I think i'll have to uninstall everything because now i have multiple files of everything listed and it's a mess.
I was looking for a way to reduce the number of undo's Daz remembers, to save my pc a little, but I can't find that.
Ill try to attach a picture of my first attempt : I call her Alice, sister of Katie, who is the daughter of Victoria 4.2 (don't know who the father is)
Hello friend, your art journey is similar to mine, I first began drawing art with pencils, paint, then discovered photoshop, and now on to Daz. I was super confused by Victoria content to, Lol !!!
Great job on first render. Happy rendering :-)
Genesis 2 Female does have some head morph add-ons, and they can be used with V6 or other Genesis 2 Female characters like Gia as well:
Genesis 2 Female Head Morphs
Genesis 2 Female Head Morph Resource Kit
Agreed! She looks great...keep up the good work, and feel free to ask here when questions come up.
