Vegetation software? (and hello)
Back from a much-too-long absence, and starting with a question.
What software do You use for creating vegetation in your works?
I know there is always SpeedTree but that isn't really in the price range I'm hoping for..
I have Max, Maya and Lightwave (older versions, to about 2009/2010 but they work fine) but manually modelling trees gets tiresome quickly.

Umm.. I personally use the PA's that make them and then Buy the sets I like. I do not have anything close to the time or Skill needed to model my own plants... :)
If you have an iPad, check out ThreeSketch (free).
the folks that do Tree Sketch also have plant modeling apps for other platforms

all those transmapped leaves can get replaced with new renders of your own leaves too, (png with transparency in Poser and Carrara, an opacity mask in studio)
I actually caught myself wanting an iPad for a minute there.
TreeSketch is precisely the sort of thing I need, but I don't have an iPad (I have a pathological aversion to all things Apple ;) )
I may have to break down and buy SpeedTree.
I have a presales request for info in with the SpeedTree people as of Friday afternoon.
I'm wondering if it's OK to redistribute tree meshes created in their product as a part of another commercial package, for example as landscaping for a DAZ item, or if there's a limitation on that. (I went in assuming that anything for resale would have to be generated from scratch, and not just a copy or modification of one of their library objects.)
Curious to see what their answer will be.
Tree Sketch will only work in IOS6. I have the original ipad and it wont run on it. I am guessing that means it runs on ipad2
It does ;-)
