How to create new textures or paint characters of Genesis?

Hello to all!
I've been looking at various sites, the technique of creating or painting new textures for characters of Genesis? I work with ZBrush to create new morphs, but do not know whether it is through it that is made texturing. Various artists already have a different shape to create textures, so realized, compared with other meshes. If any artist can help me with tips, where it will be at least the basics, I'd appreciate it immensely.
Since now you are here again, my thanks!:-)
Regards!

You can use ZBrush, though you would want to export an OBJ from DS and then import that into ZBrush with the import set to load materials as groups (Preferences>Import Export>Import>Import Mat as Groups) so that you could select areas using the same map to extract the maps from the polypainting (and you might want to run it through a UV app first to consolidate each set of maps to a single zone before importing to ZBrush - each surface area starts with a number, and the areas with the same number use parts of the same image map).
