More render question Daz 4.5

Hello friends, anyone know reason why renders change drastically from preview window using 3Delight ? I'll apply white skin mat to V4, 3Delight renders skin silver. I adjust surface settings, nothing helps. Is there a setting for 3Delight to render, same as preview window ?

Notice alot of my characters have SSS Shaders. What exactly is SSS shader ?? thanx.

Your Viewport is Rendered with your Graphix Card in OpenGL the 3Delight only renders the info sent to it. The Viewport is just an aproximation of what you will get. You can do Spot renders and adjust your Skin Surfaces as you need until you get the Rendered look you are trying for.

Thanx buddy. More learning, trial/error. Poser appears to render way better then Daz. I have poser 4, Lol !!! Is there a free render engine, I can use other then 3Delight with Daz ? Jade, you mentioned Blender in the past, what's the difference between Blender and Daz ? Thanx.

Blender is a modeling program with a little rendering now added. DAZ is a good rendering program if you just give it a little time and learn some of what does what. There is no Make art button in any program. I have Poser 9 and render in DAZ Studio because I do not know Poser as well.

Oh ok, thanx. I use Autocad for modeling. One last question, I know most of it is experimentation, but any tips using 3Delight ? Advanced render settings ? I'm so impatient, Lol !

On the primitive plane background, do you know the geometry to resolution. Like what numbers I should punch in for 800 x 600, in options Size ? Divisions ? Props are cool too, but harsh on rendering.

I have a 3.4Ghz dual core, maxing out 100% every render at 800x600,.

Your CPU will max out every render, 3Delight is a CPU based render engine and will grab all cores unless you limit it to less. The only real thing that holds back a render is RAM. Not enough and you will crash. As for Render Setting I suggest you go here Render Setting…How? Tutorial links? and to here Render Preferances for DS4+.

Units in DAZ Stuido is Centimeters so if you do the Math you just set your Primitive to a Size that way, it is not done in Pixels. I just scale my planes until the Image looks right ratio wise.

Will read render setting links. Some backgrounds look really stretched. Off to enjoy Daz. Thanks buddy :-)

Like This? This is a Primitive Plane with a Image applied to it. To fix it I used the X-Scale in Parameters to get it to look right. The X-Scale and Y-Scale can do wonders for getting them to look right.

Poser 4's Firefly render engine is fast, but lacks virtually all of the features which 3Delight or modern Firefly versions currently have. Just to put things into perspective, 3Delight is a Renderman compliant render engine -- the same sort of engine used to render blockbuster movie titles like Toy Story 3.

Getting it to look pretty though will depend heavily on the skill of the artist and knowing how the different material settings work. Like Jaderail said, there's no 'make art' button.

Poser 4 doesn't use Firefly, that was introduced in Poser 5. The problem is that the preview doesn't reliably reflect certain features of the final render, not that 3Delight is a bad renderer.

Thanx Jade, exactly info I needed to know. Background experimentation this evening.

Thanx friends, 3Delight is fine. Just don't like the idea, renders differ from preview window. Individual creates in preview window, only to get tossed for a loop. Like ordering off a diner menu, to recieve a meal completely different from what was ordered. I need to be alittle more patient, opposed to bouncing around all over the software.

I always do a spot render to test, did this in Poser 9 too. preview window does not show everything.

I find DAZ easier to use now and I am a lot more comfortable with its shader mixer than I am with Poser's Material Lab for making textures.

I do small size test renders as the Spot Render tool doesn't work right with some shaders.

3Delight renders instantly in 1280 x 720,. Begins to slow down when I add spotlight, etc.... then I reduce to 640 x 360, for quickie view. Final render 1920 x 1080.,
