Hi everybody,
i just got http://www.daz3d.com/luxus/
i read the manual and look for Luxrender.exe
files to add on my advance render setting
i could not find it.
Is it a separate file?
i went to luxrender.net to try to find if there is
an extra plugin, but i could not find it.
Please tell me what to do.

Luxus requires Luxrender, which is a separate download available here for free. Luxus is the interpreter plugin which converts your Daz Studio scene into something which Luxrender can read and render. The actual powerhouse is Luxrender, so be sure you download the correct one for your operating system.

No no no... Reality is an entirely different plugin which does essentially the same thing as Luxus. Follow the link I provided above and it will take you to the official Luxrender website where you can download the actual engine required to render scenes.

I dont know much but I know this...

    1. find out the name of the graphics card in your pc
    2. go online and see if it supports openCL
3 if it does, thats the version of luxrender you need ("openCL supported" or something like that)
4 if not, download the luxrender without openCL support

hope I'm not clouding the issue

    Hello,

    I am new on Luxus.

I installed the plugin and the LuxRender engine. I have done the tests mentioned in 15891_luxus-manual.pdf and all seem to match well.

But I have some newbie's questions.

First how many time is needed to achieve a normal render of a basic scene ? I tryed to do some renders but that take very much time (more than 15 minutes) to obtain a really bad image. And I need to stop the render process while it seems never ending.

Second there are three files created during the render : test.jpg (little one), test.lxs (very little one) and test.lsm (very large one). What are these files ?

I don't know how to do to have a good result in a decent time. How to do that ?

I thank you in advance for your answers.

LuxRender operates quite differently from 3Delight (the render engine that DAZ Studio uses by default). Your render will continue until you tell it to stop, although after a while there won't be much of a difference. Render speeds will depend on your computer, and one what level of quality you consider acceptable, but even for relatively fast computers, Lux renders can take hours or even days.

I thank you for your answer.

I have a Gamer's PC. The needs are not the same. I have "only" 4GB ram but a good graphic card. I'm new on 3D modeling.

But after 10 minutes how can I have a decent image of a simple scene ? For example a single primitive like a sphere with an unique material ?
