Any ideas on how to make a damaged house with part of its roof caved in? There are some great damaged buildings in the store, but I think I'm stuck kit-bashing to make a damaged house.
I think you're probably right. Kitbashing is the way to go. Unless you're ready to dive into creating 3D models yourself. I don't know of any "DIY Damaged House Kit" type resources.
Thanks for the suggestion. I have this Modular Destruction (https://www.daz3d.com/modular-destruction) kit which has a lot of terrific bits and pieces. The trick will be to erase parts of a "whole" house and then position busted elements.
@scorpio That's the one! I think it was sold as a single when I first saw it, which is why it didn't show up when I searched for "break" or "breaking the wall". Grrr...
@JonnyRay I don't know. My solution only works if you have a lot of cash or credit to burn. And I don't know about anyone else, but those last few big sales kinda broke me. :)
@Deke Thinking about it, you've probably got a fun/tougher job ahead of you. Getting a piece of the house to disappear is easy enough. Hit the Surfaces tab and set Cutout Opacitiy (Iray) or Opacity Strength (3Dlight) on any given surface to 0% to make it vanish. Or, a bit trickier, leave it at 100% and make a transparency map for the wall or ceiling, with black where you want the hole and everything else white (I always have to look that up), and put it into the image map slot. That will give you a nice hole where you want it, if you can figure out where to position the hole (easier if you have templates for the house you can download). Bad news is that model probably only has a single thin plane for the ceiling. A real hole in the roof would expose the support beams or trusses. That... the only thing I can think of is making simple models of a few support beams with primitive rectangles and slapping a wood shader on them.If Modular Destruction has some broken beams (it should), you can put a few of those above the ceiling, then cover it with a plane or copy of the ceiling to make the top of the roof.
I'm sure there's an easier way to do all this, but that's the best I can come up with, short of learning Hexagon or Blender to build a ceiling (ick!).

Wow .. @LosingSignal and @scorpio had MUCH better ideas than I did. I should spend more time looking around the architecture categories of the shop!
