Actor v Character and beyond

Not really a beginner but seem to have a few very elementary questions.
1. I notice some product thumbnails in the content library say "Actor" and next to it is an identical thumbnail that says "Character". I cannot detect any significant difference between the two. Is there any?
2. When downloading product files, some product files have "CF" at the end, but otherwise seem identical to the product with the same name that appear right before it but lacks the "cf" ending. Is it necessary to download both files if I only use Daz and do not use Poser?
3. With the new daz installer, I no longer seem to have access to the readme files. Is that true or am i not looking in the correct place?
4. Mirrors. This question may belong somewhere else, but is there a reference or source someone can direct me to that would explain how to get better reflection results when using mirrors? I push the reflective strength to 100% and also set my ray trace to 8 and still the image seems dark. I can lighten it up by shining a spot light behind the mirror but i can't help but think there must be a better way.

Thanks in advance for any help with these questions.

    2) CF (Companion Files) means they are not stand-alone. If you don't use Poser you don't need the PoserCF's. In DIM click the "Download Filters" button in the upper left of the "Ready to Download" tab to only see files pertinent to the software you use.

    3) In DIM click the circle with the letter 'i' inside next to a product to go to the readme.
