How can I tell what my scene size is?

I'd like to get a new GPU eventually so that I'm not rendering with my CPU. But it occured to me, I don't know that I am. I used to use a laptop but invested in a gaming desktop for Daz specifically. It has a 4GB NVIDIA card in it. Is there some dialoge box somewhere to when I have my scene loaded I will be able to tell the size?

Thanks! :)

Easist is to download GPUZ. If it's sensors show your GPU working at 99% or higher during render, you're using GPU. Also, you can watch the log window that opens as scene prepares for rendering and it gives clues as to whether or not CPU or GPU is being used (or both if your render advanced tab has both selected).

I use memory assistant [1] to show me geometry or texture heavy objects, but it's nowhere near as accurate as GPUZ when it comes to measuring overall post-compression scene size.

I don't think there's any way of calculating in advance what a render footprint is going to be until the render is actually running. There ought to be an entry in the D|S log file showing the "memory used" size, but I'm not sure where.

Incidentally, a 4GB card is a bit on the lightweight side for a modern Iray scene; you will be able to render one or two figures, with clothes and props, maybe with an environment prop. However, if your scene is large, complicated, or both, that increaces the chance you'll blow past your card's VRAM limit and the render will fall back to the CPU.
