    Thank you @thyranq and @angelreaper1972.  I use the bloom filter a lot in my renders. I think it makes for very nice images that have a slightly more real effect to them.

    I haven't done much with the bloom filter, to be honest, but I actually have an image planned out in my head that I was going to try out when I get home as just sort of an experiment with it. I've seen a lot of really good images lately that are benefitting from it tremendously, so I need to get some testing going haha.

    It's all a big learning curve. When I first started at this I used to spend more time reading tutorials than I did using the software lol. Then once I figured out some of it, I applied what I learned, made some images, drooled over some other artists' work which drove me to tinker more and more.

    The two main things you can learn are lighting and camera, I would say. Most of the products that are coming out are of a high enough quality 'out-of-the-box' to look good, so surface tweaking isn't really as necessary as it used to be. 

    Camera settings are a bit easier, as there's not really as much to fiddle with except learning the rule of thirds for composition. The default camera focal length in Studio is way too low for portraits. Upping that to 100-125 will typically resolve that, then there's really just depth of field.

    Lighting can be tricky, and it's really hard to write tutorials on it, as lighting would be different for every scene. Even loading a different character texture in a scene that's already set up will likely require some lighting adjustment, as the texture might look better under a different hue than another texture. You can set up general guidelines for light positioning, but colour, intensity, and number of lights is going to vary greatly depending on the scene, and how the artist wants to represent it. Two people could load up the exact same scene, but use completely different lighting based on what they want to convey. One person might want a nice, evenly lit portrait, for example, and another might want to highlight the depth of the image with the use of strategically positioned shadows, softer or harder lighting, etc. 

    It's all about learning. As I've always said, any day I can learn something new is a good day. I've been using Studio for about 10 years, and there's still things I learn, or learn how to do better. Today, for instance, I plan on having a go with lighting bloom, and figuring that out - to some extent at least.

  • thanks Thyranq, I actually had trouble here - with clothing. I could not get any dresses to work right and I wanted her in a dress but just couldn't get what I had to sit right on the chair without poke through or bend right at left leg thigh tried a lot too and dforce ones exploded finally this one worked but didn't dforce luckily it sat bent in the right spot to look natural though still some poke through with chair but think cheated enough to not notice too much, was almost going to submit to jeans or shorts or something but really wanted just a nice dress render

    May I suggest the product Content Package Assist for packaging non Daz content and then being able to load it via dim.  I use it all the time now since I bought it.  I had a bit of a learning experience with it, but now have the workflow down using it.  My initial problem was similar to yours in trying to find the stuff coupled with my Lost and Found list under both Smart Content and the Content Library was just huge. 

    So I looked into what was going on.  Took me about five days to fix all my stuff (yeah, I have way too much content), the vast majority was either non Daz content or Poser stuff.  Fixing that was a great learning experience about the product metadata, how to add metadata to products and assigning the right classifications and capabilities categories to the respective files. 

    Took a bit to get it sorted, but now I find it easy and glad I did it.  I mention the metadata and Lost and Found issue, because even with using Content Package Assist, once loaded by dim, the product will still show up in Lost and Found if there was no metadata included the the non Daz content, so I still need to add it as the last step and it will show up in Smart Content.

    I used G8F body morphs for the shape.  The two products are Genesis 8 Female Body Morphs for the body tone and fitness definition and GHD SomeBody - Morphs for Genesis 8 Female(s) for the additional cleavage.

    Thank you and much appreciated ANGELREAPER1972.  As so many others have experienced, with the corona virus and the requirements for staying at home I have quite a bit of time on my hands now and this thread got me back into rendering.  So here are two renders of Jayla.

    The 'boyfriend' was over a year in the past. He had seemed so nice and caring when Romina had met him. Slowly, but surely he'd taken away her life. First telling her what clothes to wear, what friends to see, controlling and questioning everything she did and said. Eventually, she never went out and cringed every time she saw him. Finally, finally she went to church. The vicar was a wonderful woman who instantly saw the injury to her soul that her family hadn't noticed. The vicar bolstered her nerve, so that when she saw his phone lying about when he was out, she picked it up intending to phone her parents. Instead, diverted into finding out what he did when out. Yee gods.. She rushed to the vicar, gave her the phone, and the Police arrived in 10 minutes. Child sex abuse gets that response, especially when he starred in some of the photos. He was arrested, swearing savage revenge, and was put away for 20 years minimum, with most of that being in solitary for his own safety.

    So, a year on, Romina took her first tentative step to have a life of her own. The injury to the essence of who she was, slowly healing. She had chosen the dress all by herself, and chosen the friends who were to meet her at the restaurant. The permed hair, an act of defiance that nearly didn't happen. He never let her have anything other than a tightly scraped back pony tail that made her look like a drudge. She screwed her courage to the limit, nearly shaking with the effort, and had blonde tips. If he ever saw her like this... No, no she was past her fear of him. But just before leaving, she suddenly panicked. What if he'd escaped and was there, going to rape her and beat her to death as he had promised? He never broke those promises.. He broke almost all the other promises, but promises of violence and pain were never once unfulfilled.

    Gail, Romina's calm elder sister, held her hand in reassurance and gave her the tiny scrap of comfort needed to overcome her irrational fear.

    PS. The story behind the image, I fear, is true. The vicar is real, as is the boyfriend and his crime. The real life 'Romina' is starting her recovery.

    Obviously, the models are Romina and Gail, the clothing is by Wilmap. Shoes by Arryn. Background, a model by me in SolidWorks and translated/texmapped with my own programs. Romina's naturally tragic face is perfect to illustrate this story. Romina's hair is 'Pascale Hair's with a -200% length morph dial position. Gail's hair is SWAM's Seema hair for G3F on G8F. Nice and lightweight on the system to counteract the Pascale hair.
