When shopping for shaders, how to tell if they are Iray and not 3delight?
I have to ask, I have bought a tonne of content to get things that interest me and am always disappointed when something turns out to be 3delight since I am using Iray to render. I do use Octane so I am used to rendering some things and layering images but its a real pain to buy a shader only to discover its not Iray.

I just search for the word Iray. For example, this doesn't have it, so it's 3Delight:

This has the word Iray (in the What's Included section):

So it's Iray.
You have to go by the SKU of the item in general, and the "What's Included" section in particular. Iray was introduced in 2015, and most of the shaders released with an SKU higher than 21000 are for Iray. The exception are items created by RDNA. Those came in when their store closed and have numbers above 21000, but a lot is 3Delight or Poser only.
Always check the "What's included" section. When you have the word "DAZ Studio Materials" you are dealing with 3Delight materials. Iray or other materials are also stated there.
Ok, thanks for the tips! I don't mind 3Delight stuff, but tbh I'm still learning Iray and am fairly new. I have not even begun to look at 3Delight, but did buy some content like movie maker etc. and now some shaders (by fluke). I am using Octane also so have gotten used to applying shaders etc, but the biggest problem I have with 3Delight is my limited knowledge on lighting etc., my figures do not look good in 3Delight, Iray simplifies that for me and they always look decent enough.
I appreciate the tips and will follow them.
I'm currently visiting the final leg of this webinar: http://digitalartlive.com/event/daz-studio-realistic-scene-and-portrait-lighting-course/
The good thing about them is that you can ask questions and have things explained if you don't understand something.
However, what I would suggest to every new user is to participate in the New User contests and check out the WIP threads there, as they have tons of great tips and first hand training: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/categories/new-user-contests-and-events
Excellent, I will. I bought a couple tutorials on lighting, it will be my next task to sit and watch them/read them. I have been focusing on figure shaping, morphs and character editing. My characters are looking up though, I have mainly been focusing on gently adding those imperfections to features that make people look like people and not mani's.
Good lights will make a big improvement and I noticed some presets that I have really brought life into some images but, I would like to step away from presets and learn to do this on my own ;)
I'm going to start my gallery thread now that I have been getting some moderately noteworthy results.
