Daz crashes during render

Hi

Four times I'm trying to render a scene and Daz keeps crashing mid way. I have a number of elements in the scene, but surely Daz is capable of rendering a more complex scene.

Is there a way to resolve this problem?

Thanks.

Assuming you mean DAZ Studio, is this the 32 bit or 64 bit version? Is it just one particular scene that's crashing?

Also, what OS are you running and how much RAM do you have?

In my experience most crashes during rendering are running out of RAM.

It's the 32 bit version. I got around it (sort of) by making the background/prop scene elements invisible and rendering that then doing the reverse and making the characters invisible and merging them in separate layers in Photoshop. But then I have this awful white outline.

Is the 32 bit version limited to rendering simple scenes? I'm on an iMac so memory shouldn't be an issue.

    Thanks.

OSX 10.8, 8 GB. No other program running, everything saves to external drive.

It's probably a good idea to get the 64 bit version, yes - if you need the 32 bit version for some reason they will coexist.

32 bit apps are limited in the amount of memory they can actually access. Switching to the 64 bit version will allow you to access all of the available RAM in your system and should help with your problem.

Thanks for all the great replies!

If I understand correctly, I should install the 64 bit version and uninstall the 32 bit one. Or is it ok to have both on the system without there being a drain on the Mac's resources?

You can have them both installed -- the only extra resources it uses are the disk space.
