Longer Male Hair for Close-ups?

I own several hair sets, male and female. As I make quite often fantasy/historical scenes I also use some female hair for males, to get longer styles. As known to all often hair unfortunately even looks unrealistic from the distance, but most hair except very short hair sucks for close shots.

My best hair for males is possibly Bowl Cut and AJ hair from Goldtassel, Brendan and Peng hair. But in the end only Brit Hair (Genesis 2!) -with some surface changes- gives at least a bit a realistic look in total. The other hair quite often is not dense enough or has too much split, even if the textures may be better than Brit Hair.

What is your favourite hair for males or females for close shots?

I've become a big fan of OutOfTouch's hair both the ones for sale here and some others that are only available at Renderosity. The modeling is done very well and the work they do on their shaders makes the hair stand up well both from a distance and up close.
