Room creator v2 question

I'm a newbie and starting to learn daz studio, I bought room creator because I wanted to start practicing building interiors but I guess this package is just a set of "wall poses" because I get the "item must be selected within the scene" to be able to use the "preset pose" walls. So my question is what "item" do I need to start building interior walls and using these preset poses from room creator? Where can I get my hands on it? Help plz : /

Everything you need is in the package. There is quite a detailed HTML tutorial which comes with it, which you should find in your ReadMe's folder at ..\RoomCreator2Help\RoomCreator2Tutorial.htm. Basically to start off you load the room and inner walls which you should find in Poser Formats > My Library > Figures > Maclean > Room Creator > Room Creator 2.
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it!
You can also find a short online tutorial on the DAZ wiki page.

If you have any other questions, post here and I'll answer them. And thanks for buying Room Creator.

I'm lost in step 7, when I'm asked to select a specific floor of the back room with the surface tool where there should be a floor 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 etc. But there aren't different floors to select from, it's just one big floor for the entire main room or "01 room" figure, why is that? if I try to change the texture it obviously changes the texture of the entire place. What did I miss, I though I followed every step. There's only the option for "floor" under 01 room, nothing else under there. How can I separate the floor for each room?
Hmm.. Something is off, the Floor is broken into different MAT zones that line up at wall/door placement. You should be able to open the Floor in the Surfaces Tab and Assign the Shaders to each section as you like to match your room layouts.
RC2 was one of my First buys and I still use it for MANY renders.
Wait a minute, earlier on step 1 I was asked to switch from floor 2 to the alternate floor under "parameters/misc", "switching back" to floor 2 now allows me to view these so called floor 1-1 1-2 etc on the surface tab. I can do it now to "floor 2"... but It didn't let me do it to the alternate floor.
Well I'll be, you are correct. DS4.6 Seems to have broken the Material Zones on the Floor. They were Fine in DS4.5 If I remember corectly. This needs mentioned to DAZ3D in a Support Ticket and also to maclean, who is watching this thread. I confirm the Floor is broken.
EDIT: Yes swapping to Floor2 fixes it. You can use 1-1 1-2 ect to Apply only the shaders you Wish to those sections.
Okay I just did a Full test in DS4.6. And I did find one issue, none of the DS Material Files will apply, ONLY the DS Shaders will. Tip You must use the DS Material set (Just the Shaders) the Poser versions will not apply in DS4.6, Mc6 files can not be read at all.
Load the Set, Select the Floor in the Scene Tab, open the Parameters Tab and Swap to Floor two. Open the Surfaces Tab and Expand the Floor. Select all the Floor sections you wish to change (Tip: Use the Texture Selection tool and each part will Out-line) then Apply any of the DS Material Shaders to your set.
I just did this one.
Jaderail,
Thanks for checking that out. Actually, I'm pretty miffed with Daz studio these days. It seems that every new version breaks something that used to work perfectly well. That's why I no longer include DS scene files and geometry in my newer products.

This might be a stupid question but this product here http://www.daz3d.com/room-creator-stairs-and-balconies
It says it's a free upgrade for people who have room creator v2, does that mean I don't have to pay for it? If so how can I go about doing that?
Ah, were it so!
It says it is free for owners of Room Creator Expansion Pack #2, not Room Creator 2. But that product is no longer available.
Oh, I have all the RC2 packs, sorry.
Well shit... I was looking for something specifically called "Room Creator Expansion Pack #2" but couldn't find it so I was comfused... bumer. Yeah, cuz it's showing the regular price when I added to my cart
I almost went the whole way in the checkout process before slowly realising that it wasn't going to discount! :ahhh:
LOL - That's fine, Jaderail. I just thought I'd better mention it to set the record straight.
Sorry for the confusion. Here's the situation.
Room Creator (No longer available) - Replaced by Room Creator v2 - Free upgrade to anyone who bought Room Creator
Room Creator Expansion #1 (No longer available) - Replaced by Room Creator Exteriors - Free upgrade to anyone who bought Expansion #1
Room Creator Expansion #2 (No longer available) - Replaced by Room Creator Stairs & Balconies - Free upgrade to anyone who bought Expansion #2
As you can see, it's actually fairly simple. When I updated RC to version 2, I made the upgrade free. As I upgraded the other packs, I also made them free to purchasers of the orginals; the originals became inactive and were replaced by the updated versions.
Now that all 3 packs have been updated, the originals have been retired, and in future, all new packs will be straight releases, not replacements for anything. I'm not sure when I'll get to the next packs, but they'll be add-ons, fairly low in price (I hope $9.95) and probably things like new doors and windows, or whatever. Somewhere or other, I have a list of stuff I'd like to build to extend the system as much as possible.

This is not actually correct. I bought the original Room Creator in July 2007 for $24.95. I was not granted a free update, but had to buy Room Creator Version 2, which I did in March this year. I did not pay full price, because it was a part of a general Sale, but nevertheless I did have to pay for it.
My understanding at the time was that because the new version was significantly changed from the original, it was effectively a different product, which was an acceptable notion and hence the reason I was prepared to buy it. Again, I am not complaining here, I think it is a great product, but people ought to know that it is not a free upgrade.

Cayman, it is a free upgrade. When you put it in your cart, if you have the previous version, you should see a coupon which discounts the entire price to zero.
If you paid the full price, you're definitely due a refund. Please contact DAZ sales support and tell them about this. If you have any difficulty, PM me and I'll get you the full refund. I don't want anyone paying twice for my product.

Note - Before the store change-over, the product page stated that it was a free upgrade, but that seems to have been lost in the switch.
OK, mac, thanks for the clarification. As you have observed, this arrangement does not seem to be on the product page any longer - that should obviously be corrected. I bought the Room Creator v2 in the March Madness sales, so if I can unpick that melange I'll let DAZ know what you've said.
No problem. Nowadays, even dollar counts, so it's worth following up. And DAZ are pretty good about refunds.
If there's any problem, let me know and I'll bash 'em for ya.

I am having the same issue with Floor and Wall Materials. When I try to follow Jaderail's instructions, The Poser Materials do not work, so I looked for the DAZ Shaders, I cannot find any of the DAZ Shaders in DAZ. I found them on my hard drive, but cannot find them via DAZ. I tried uninstalling both Room Creator 2 for DAZ and Poser, but that does not help.
Any help on how to access the DAZ Shaders would be appreciated. I went through the tutorial and it was very helpful, but this floor and wall materials issue is killing me:cheese:
You should have the following folders in your DS content.
content/Maclean/Room Creator/Room Creator 2> Models / Presets Materials / Presets Poses / Toolbar
If they're not showing, it must be something to do with Categories or Smart Content. Try this. In the content pane, click the small triangle at the top right and choose View Folders As Tree. That might get them to show up. If not, let me know.

Hello mac,
Thanks for the tip, I ended up trying to do some Content DB maintenance and that screwed things up worse, but using DIM, I uninstalled and reinstalled all my content and now the Presets Materials folder is in the Content Library. Now to play with the .dsa files on walls and floors. Hope I can figure that out.
That tutorial you made was invaluable.
thanks again,

Great! Glad you got it sorted out.

Hello! I have a problem with Room Creator 2: I'm using it with Daz Studio 4.6.2.118 (64 bit) on a Mac Pro with Mac OsX Mavericks; the installation worked, the files are at the proper place and I see them in the content Library - but only under the "products" research, if I browse the Poser format library the "Maclean" directory doesn't show - but when I try to load them (i.e. the "o1 room.cr2 file) I get this error message: Could not open file: Volumes/XXX/Users/xxx/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library/runtime/libraries/Character/Maclean/Room Creator/Room Creator 2/01room.cr2 File does not exist... even if the file is actually there. Does anybody have an idea about how to resolve this?
Thank you in advance for any suggestion
Could you go to Edit>Preferences>Content Library, click the Content Directory Manager button and in the dialogue expand both Poser Formats and DAZ Studio Formats under the current directory set, then take a screenshot and post it here. Also please post a screenshot showing the 01room.cr2 file with the path to it visible.
