How do you find, get and apply makeup?

I'm trying to keep my character from looking like a mannequin.  So far the only makeup I can find comes with a character.  If I purchase one and apply it to my character will it change the facial features?

There are quite a few make up sets in the store.  Try doing a store search for Make up and the genesis number to get one or more for the characters you are using.

This is the reult of a search just using "Make Up" as the search term

Thanks for the lead.  I found one, purchased it, and applied it.  But the skin is glossy, like the character is wearing oil.  Is this normal?

Are you using Iray (the default in Daz studio) or 3Delight? Make sure the materials you are using match the render engine.

Richard, I don't think so.  Not sure how to find Iray or 3Delight.

If you haven't chnage the setting in the Editor or Advanced tab of Render Settings then you are using Iray. What make-up set are you using?

The makeup I found is SF Beautiful Skin Iray Genesis 8 Female.

I've attached a screenshot of my character so you can see what I'm talking about.

    How does it look rendered?

Rendered?  I haven't gone that far.  What does it mean?  What happens to the character when you render it?  Also, is there a way to save or created a model of my character I can come back to without having to start all over? I know about the 'save' option but if I want to create a seperate save using 'save as' I get a menu with several options and I have no idea what those mean.

I generally either "Character" or "Scene Subset" when I save created characters.

"Save As -> Character" includes the shape (morphs), pose, and materials (skin, makeup, etc.) but no wearables (clothing, hair, accessories). I use this when I have a base that I plan to use in many different ways, so I am always chosing different hair, clothing, etc. The result is usually stored in your Daz 3d Library under "Presets -> Characters."

"Save AS -> Scene Subset" saves everything about the selected item(s) (shape, pose, materials, clothing/hair/accessories, etc.) as something that is easy to import into other scenes. I use this for characters who aren't going to change much, but will be used in several scenes. The file can then be pulled into scenes without having to do "merge scene" or overwriting the existing scene. The result is usually stored under "Presets -> Scene Subsets."

You can also save a wearables preset if you "kitbash" an outfit that you particularly like. This will load all the settings of anything the figure is wearing (based on your selections in the dialog). In case you don't know,  "Kitbashing" is when you use parts of multiple sets to create another set. So you may use the boots from one outfit, a jacket from another, and pants from a third to create a specific look.

Render>Render. The preview is not a good guide, at least without switching to nVidia Iray mode (if you are using Iray).
