Please explain me as dumbproof as possible how to install Poser stuff on D:

I think I succeeded to correctly setup the paths to autoinstall the DS content to D:\ My DAZ3D content\. But then I downloaded some freebies from Renderocity (I was surprised how much free stuff they offer there from all categories and up to Gen 8) and dilligently installed everything Poser related to D:\My DAZ3D content\Runtime. Only to find out I see the Runtime directory under Poser formats as "My DAZ3D content" and inside of this folder only the folders from "Libraries" subfolder, w/o the subfolder Libraries itself. The other subfolders of Runtime were invisible. Please advice as dumbproof how to map the other folders and the folder Runtime itself from the Content Directory Manager.

PS. I emptied the Runtime subfolders to evade possible mess.

This is how it should work - the other folders (Runtime, Textures, folders in Libraries that don't correspond to Poser libraries) are hidden by design, their files are accessed when you load the Poser library files.

    Thanks.

PS. I read it. Actually I did exactly this so I guess more or less I installed the stuff correctly, but I was frustrated why I see no "runtime folder" and only "libraries" folder from the  inside the Runtime folder. But as I understood from Richard it is exactly as it is supposed to be.

Is there a list of the Roser files extensions and which file extension to which folder should belong?

The extensions can go in any library in DS, and in recent versions (8+ as I recall) of Poser. Poser will save only to the matching library though. The Library folders are Camera, Character (which appears as Figure in the library list), Face (whichj appears as Expressions), Hair, Hand, Light, Materials, Pose, Props and Scene (or Scenes, I can't recall). The extensions are cm2 or cmz, cr2 or crz, fc2 or fcz, hr2 or hrz, hd2 or hdz, lt2 or ltz, mt5 or mtz or mc6 or mcz, pz2 or p2z, pp2 or ppz, and pz3 or pzz respectively (the z versions are compressed) - I think those are all correct.

  • I see, thanks.

So no way to check if I did put something in a wrong directory by looking to the file extensions... anyway I think even if I misplaced something I learned new stuff so it seems like a fair exchange.
