Worldbase Xtreme and New Worldbase XT
Was checking out the Fast Grab Frenzy sale and noticed this
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/the-all-new-worldbase-xt-lushlands and this
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/worldbase-xtreme-kit
are both needed?
These say they need the New Worldbase XT,
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/desertlands-pak-for-worldbase-xt
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/snowlands-pak-for-worldbase-xt
but this one,
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/trees-and-skies-pak-for-worldbase-xt
says it needs Worldbase Xtreme. Would it work in the New Worldbase XT?
Forest and Forest Superior also look interesting. I was thinking they would make good foreground forest with Worldbase XT as background.
Thanks

There are two versions. I'll pair the links up so you can see what goes with what.
Old:
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/worldbase-xtreme-kit (this is the original base kit)
New:
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/the-all-new-worldbase-xt-lushlands (this is the new base that goes with the following 3 expansions)
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/desertlands-pak-for-worldbase-xt
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/snowlands-pak-for-worldbase-xt
http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/trees-and-skies-pak-for-worldbase-xt (link to required product is incorrect and leads to the old base)
I think the differences are in the texture quality, but I could be wrong.
Here's a thread you may want to read through. It's from when the newer version first came out: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/6814/
/edit
Apparently the older 'kit' version was not created to work in DS and was more aimed towards Poser, but the newer version works 100% in DS.

it says purchased for me but I bought the Poser one quite a while back, so wondering if DIM updated it?
nevermind, no the lushlands one still for sale for me.
I don't own the Trees and Skies Pack, but based on the promo images and the release date, I'm pretty sure that it's actually designed for the New Worldbase XT, not the original version.
Ah, you might be right given it says Daz Studio 4.6 @ the bottom. It's just linking to the wrong required version.

I just bought the Trees back today as I bought lushlands, snow, and desert yesterday and thought Trees was for the older kit. Installing them now, I'll post back when I find out.

Happy kitty, Sleepy kitty, Purr purr purr...
The trees are just props, so you can use them on anything as far as I can see, and the mat pose files for the skies do work on the WorldBase-XtrSkies node.
I'll edit my initial reply.
The DIM info Clearly states it is for Worldbase XT. The Link is wrong. This is a XT add on pack.
Yup, but you don't see the DIM info unless you buy it. =P
Now to read back through that other thread for this banding issue with non-stock light rigs. >.<</p>
Lower the Bias as low as possible in Uber. I think, it's just one stting I remember that much.
Bias doesn't help at all for me. 0.1 or 1.0, same thing happens. Adding SubD to the rings gets rid of it in the sky, but then I still get the shadow on the mountains. Changing the occlusion color on UE removes the lines from the mountains. I'll have to render out 2 full scenes to see what changing that color actually does to a render color wise.
Is sort of why I gave up and just Edit the built in lights.
For me it's raytracing that does it. I get it when I use the RT versions of the scenes, too.
/edit
Apparently my definition of lowering the bias was going from 1.0 to .1, but taking it to like 3.0 gets rid of them on the default RT light scene. I just don't know what that would do to the rest of a render. I've never used any number other than .1 or 1.0.
Hmm... is you Render Shading rate .5 or lower? That fixes them for me.
My render shading rate is always on .2. Now when you say .5 or lower, do you mean .1-.5, or .5+? I'm only asking because sometimes I'm used to photography where the lower the aperture number, the more light that gets in.
.2 is lower than .5 so that's not it. Was just off the top of my head. Not used the set in a long bit now.
For me, the higher shading rate on the light fixes it. .1 makes it look horrible, but ~3.0 makes it go away. Weird.
I figured out what mine was. I'm getting shadowing from the mountain's geometry. As soon as I set XtrHills to not cast shadows, it disappeared.
It's like the wireframe of the hills are showing through the actual texture.
Sorry to interrupt the flow of the discussion (and I may have missed it in one of the responses), but it sounds like if I get New Worldbase XT I do not need Worldbase Xtreme. The Desert, Snow, and Trees add-ons will work with XT, correct?
Thanks
Correct. All 3 expansion packs work with the one that says 'lushlands'.
Well that's just crap. I bought the XT, not lushlands, and I got the Trees Addon since it said it worked with it. Are you now telling me the Addon will not work with the older one?, other then the trees can work with anything.
The trees pack was made for the older one, but still works with the newer one and other sets as they're just a set of separate props. The skies from the trees pack work on both the new and old versions.
The other xpansion packs though will require the lushlands version.
So it wasn't a waste then, thanks for the info.
