SHADER PRESETS.
(4) “ /DOCS & SETTINGS /OWNER / APPLICATION DATA / DAZ 3D / dson, DSON POSER, INSTALL MANAGER, STUDIO3, STUDIO4, dzinstall.ini
(5) “ / PROGRAM FILES / DAZ / Daz / DAZ DOWNLOADS, DOWNLOADS, RENDERS, STUDIO / BACKDROPS, BIN, CONTENT, DATA, DISPLAYS,

RESOURCES,RUNTIME, SCRIPTS, SHADERS, TEMP.
STUDIO LIBRARY / INDEX, PHOTOSHOP MATERIALS, READ ME,
RUNTIME, TUTORIALS, V4 JIGSAW, V4 2ND SKIN RESOURCE
(6) “ “ “ / STUDIO / BIN, CONTENT, DATA, DISPLAYS, DOCS, PEOPLE, PLUGINS, RESOURCES, RUNTIME, SCRIPTS, SHADERS,

(8) “ “ “ / DAXSTUDIO 4 / BIN, DISPLAYS, DOCS, IMAGE FORMATS, PHONON BACKEND, PLUGINS, RESOURCES, SCRIPTS
SERVICE, SHADERS, UNINSTALLERS, V RESOURCES, DAZ STUDIO EXEC, DAZ3D CONT ICON,

I have read that it's dangerous to change the installation but would dearly like to put everything in one master folder, preferably in my programs folder. Can anyone please tell me if this is possibel and if so, how I go about it. My OS is Windows XP.

I'm not sure why you seem to have two DS application folders, though it is hard to read your list in places. But the last 4 look to be the applications. 4) is personal data that isn't used directly - mainly settings files and so on. The My Library in 1) is the default DAZ Studio content directory, the My DAZ 3D Library in 3) is the default Install Manager content directory - you don't need both, I would simply merge the My Library folder into the My DAZ 3D Library folder or uninstall the content installed with DIM, click the gear icon at top-right of the DIM interface, go to the Installation tab, click the + button, and add the MY DOCS / DAZ 3D / STUDIO / MY LIBRARY / folder, then highlight the My DAZ 3D Library entry and click the - button, and finally reinstall the content. The render Library folder in 1) is the default location for saving renders. 2) contains the content database used by the Content Management system and should be left alone. I'm not sure what the Genesis Starter Essentials folder is in 3) - unless it's the actual zip, or you manually unzipped. The other folders in 3) are used by DIM -you can change the location of the Downloads folder in the Install Manager preferences, but for now the other folder are hard-coded and tricky to change.
Many thanks for your suggestions. I've mergeed the two as you suggested.
Rondo I am REALLY new to all this, but I did have a similar problem in that the Daz 3D folder in My Documents was empty. I have Windows 7 which seperates the Documents Library between "Public" and "My Documents". I found the Daz Library folder in the "Public" area of the Documents. Hope my small amazing mircle of figuring something out on my own helps you!
Hello Richard (or anyone out there),
Sorry to re-open an old thread, but I'm having the same problem as the poster and am struggling with merging the 2 content folders that DS inexplicably gives you. At the moment I have the unnecessary setup of 2 separate content folders:
(1) Libraries > Documents > Daz 3D > Studio > My Library and Render Library (where all my actual work is)
(2) Libraries > Documents > My Daz 3D Library (where DIM has put all my downloaded content files)
I tried moving some of the files from the 1st directory into the 2nd as you recommended, as follows:
Libraries > Documents > Daz 3D > Studio > My Library > Scenes > 'file'
into
Libraries > Documents > My Daz 3D Library > Scenes
However, the Content Library and Smart Content tabs in DS 4.6 now can't find the files I moved. I can still open them if I go to the 'File' menu and 'Open' and navigate to the correct folder, but they don't show up in the libraries like they used to. Is there a way to get them to re-appear please?
Thanks!

Sorry, nevermind - I just navigated to where they should be in the Content Library directories and they suddenly re-appeared. Now they're back in Smart Content as well. Very strange, but it worked anyway :)
The content management database doesn't seem to update instantly when content is added or moved, especially if DAZ Studio is running. It seems to search the drives periodically and updates itself accordingly (which is a good thing, since you wouldn't want it thrashing away at your drives continuously) unless you instruct it to do so immediately.
Don't install content, especially with DIM, while DS is running.
