Old content on Daz4

I recently lost my old computer and as a result all of my DAZ files.
After getting a new computer set up I tried reloading DAZ Studio and was able to get it running. Then I tried to reload some of the content from my account panel and none of it shows up here at all. I don't know where to find it and even so how to get it to where it can run on this new setup.
Can anyone help me out please?

Are you installing using the Install Manager, or extracting the zips manually, or using .exe installers?

I'm using the Install Manager which was recommended when I loaded the studio. Also, my computer has Windows 8 which I'm having problems understanding how to navigate. Maybe someday I'll get the hang of it, but by then it'll be out of date.

If you use the Install Manager, you need to make sure that DAZ Studio knows where to look for the products that the Install Manager has installed. Here are some instructions on that: https://helpdaz.zendesk.com/entries/23624648-Adding-Content-installed-by-Install-Manager-to-DAZ-Studio-or-Poser

I looked at the page you suggested and I tried to locate the loaded files and they just aren't there. I did notice that when I look into my drive I find a difference in format. I think that is where I'm losing it. I go to C:/Users/Public but I find no /Documents. There is a /Public Documents. I went to the Install Manager and tried to edit the path to match my C: drive but it wouldn't allow me to make any changes.
    What next?

Public Documents is the proper path, open it.

    Yeah, on my Win8 machine it's C:/Users/Public/Public Documents/My DAZ 3D Library

I recommend you add that path to your Content Directory Manager following the instructions in the link from my previous post (just change the path to the proper one).

Everything is as you say it should be. I can look into the My DAZ 3D Library folder and by looking around I see the content I loaded is there. But when I open DAZ and go to the Content Library the only thing that shows is Genesis and that which came with the program. I should also be seeing The Kids 4, Umblefugly, and Sweetheart. They are in the library, why don't they show?

Where are you looking in the Content Library? Do you see the "My DAZ 3D Library" location listed there?

If you can post screenshots of the Content Library and the Content Directory Manager, that might help us figure out what's going on.

Here's what shows in my Content Library.

Here's a screen shot of where I found a lot of Kids4 stuff but there doesn't seem to be any way I can load any of it. And somewhere in the library I found the Umblefugly skateboard, knee pads, and helmet which I can get to load up. There was also a mention or two of Sweetheart. So I believe the loader isn't as smart as claimed because it doesn't know what to do with any of my old purchases in this new program.
If someone can't help me get this stuff running and I have to purchase all over again I'll probably just go to another program instead of DAZ. When you have to start all over you might as well do something different. It probably won't cost any more than staying here.

That folder has support files for Kids4 -- nothing that should be visible or load directly.

Pre-Genesis products (including K4) are usually found in the Content Library under Poser Formats...have you checked there?

    Navigate to C:/Users/Public/Public Documents/My DAZ 3D Library/People
    What folders are in there?

Also, when you go into the Install Manager and click on the Installed tab, can you find those K4 products on the list of installed products?

Poser formats, how simple. And there they are.
Things are looking up. I guess the Install Manager is the smart one and I'm the simple one.
O.K. I'll simply use the wonderful Install Manager and simply bring back all of my old material.

Thank you very much. Once again your calm patience has overcome my simple frustration.

No problem! Glad it helped, and I only wish I had thought of that suggestion earlier.

One more related thing worth mentioning...for some items, you'll have to find the item itself in Poser Formats, but the DAZ Studio materials for it are in DAZ Studio Formats. If the icon in Poser Formats has a little scroll symbol on it, then it should load the DS materials automatically, and you won't have to worry about looking in the other place for them.

If there's no scroll, it will probably load with Poser materials (which work somewhat in DS, but not exactly as intended). Some items don't have DS-specific materials; you'll have to use the Poser ones and adjust them in the Surfaces pane if necessary.

Hopefully this makes sense...it's something that took me a while to understand.

Thanks again. You can probably understand how stupid I feel not having looked there in the first place.
But all that aside, I'm getting it all back up and running. Here's an example of what I ran off last night. Using Matt, Millennium Baby, Kids 4,
and Genesis Child along with whatever mix of clothing I have, I created this scene for my recently recovered home made Red Wagon along with my standard home made sidewalk and backdrop scene. I'm especially proud of the wagon, with the bed, wheel frames, and handle being made in Hexagon and the wheel sets from primitives right here in the Studio.
And as for the render, WOW, my new computer is ten times faster than my old one was.
