Nemesis: A little help, please.

edited December 1969 in New Users

Hello,

I am still pretty new to DAZ 3D, and I am having a little problem with some files.

I just purchased the NEMESIS.

http://www.daz3d.com/the-nemesis

I can't seem to find the add-ons for it. I went to the Resource files, and I can't seem to install them. Someone said that when you download some files you need to put them in the "runtime" folder. I am really not sure how to do this.

I got some GREAT advice in the past, and the help I got was nearly immediate. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

(Please keep in mind that I am fairly new to all of this, and I would appreciate all the help you can give me, without just giving me links for tutorials...).

Thank you again.

I don't have this product so this will be blind advice.

I take it the downloads are in Zip format?

    Are you using Windows?

If so click on the zip folder to open, open the next folder called Content and copy everything in there which will probably be a My Library folder and paste that in to where you install content. Just make sure you paste it in to the Root folder and you should get a message about merging the Zipped My Library folder with the main My Library folder. If you don't get the messgae then you are pasting it in to the wrong folder.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I am using WIn 8.

SO, just to make sure I have this right:

    Open the zip file

I opened the Contents folder, and I have:

    Mac OS (folder)
    Resources (folder)
    info.plist

Ok. You said to post it to where I install content. I normally let the DAZ installer install everything for me.

Any advice as to where I need to install this? Should I set up a new folder?

Ok I am a little lost now with the info you posted specifically

    Mac OS (folder)
    Resources (folder)
    info.plist

They don't sound like PC content but Mac content to me.

Can you open the MacOS and Resources folders and let me know what is insdie.

Installed content. You should really take note of where your content is installed to, you will need this info for future use. At a guess I would say try My Documents or Public > My Documents to see where your contnet is installed to. I would make a new content foolder until you understand what you are doing.

I figured it was Mac, too. I kinda ignored that.

    Ok.

I opened the MacOS folder, and it has the following:

    installbuilder
    iinstallbuilder.sh
    osx-10.2
    os-intel
    osx-ppc

In the Resouces file, there is:

    installbuilder.icns

    Then the:

Info.plist is a file by itself.

I have a folder called "My DAZ 3D Library" under my public folder. I have all kinds of files in there for people, props, runtime, and data.

I doubt any of this will help, but this is all I got.

As I thought there are Mac files not PC. You need the PC files from your account.

The resource files from the product page are usually support files that make it easier to create your own textures, you don't need them to load the content.
The installation files for the content can be downloaded in the 'Product Library' on the 'My Account' page.

Edit : i just realised you said you couldn't find the add-ons, so installing and loading the car probably wasn't a problem in the first place. I don't own this product, but i found a post on it in the forum archives :

I had a hard time finding them as well... all the mods are available through the parameter dials. Click the front grill and you'll see a new dial available to 'turn them on.' Same deal for the light bar and rear bumper deal.

    Hope this helps...

    Thanks for your help....

I am just a little frustrated. I spent $20 for this vehicle because of the options it had... now I realize I have a model I can't use because of that.

Does anyone know how to contact KOOKNFAT and see if they may have some suggestions?

I have spent a few hundred dollars on DAZ the last two weeks, and I am finding that many of the sets I am purchasing (like this, and UNSHAVEN BEARD FOR GENESIS) don't seem to work due to missing files.

I have to say that not being able to apply hair or features to a model that I paid money for is very disheartening.

I own the Nemesis, very cool car.

    I unzipped mine in DAZ3D> Studio>Content.

Should be in your "Figures" library called "The Nemesis".

To find the add-ons, go to your "Pose" Library and find "Nemesis_MAT"

That's where it's at in my Daz Studio. Your Content library could be different since you said your new. In which case, the best advice I can give you is just look for "The Nemesis" and "Nemesis MAT" in the files you can search under. I'd start under the any file that says "Content" first.

    KNIGHT22179,

You are my new personal hero (at least for today). :D

I looked there earlier. I am not sure why I didn't see it.

    Thanks for your help, folks!

    I greatly appreciate it!

Thanks Knight. So all the files needed are in one download file. Not having content like this does make it hard to help.

blake.stargazer what files are missing from the UNSHAVEN BEARD FOR GENESIS? If you provide the exact info prehaps we can help with that too.

There is no need to get frustrated, if something doesn't work then it will be down to 3 common things.

    1: not installed properly
2: corrupted Download (rare but it does happen)
3: There is a bug and it needs reporting so it can be fixed.

But generally with DAZ3D content the most common problem is user error.

Edit to add. So the files were there all this time? ;- )

Well, there is also a fourth option... I suffer from a condition called I-D-TEN-D (ID10T). :)

I purchased the "Unshaven Hair Bundle" and I get the body hair fine. It says there are over 60 beard options, and I can't seem to find ANY. I can't seem to find any options for the Unshaven Beard Bundle. I checked under poses, figures, materials, and even hair (the main hair file is there, but I can't find any options).

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. :D

If you have managed to find Nemesis, make sure it's selected in your Scene tab. Now click on your Parameters tab. You should see a list

    General
    Display
    Morphs

Under Morphs you'll find lots of options to play with. This let's you do all kinds of things to the wheels and open/close the windows.

Now, click on the Scene tab, double click on Nemesis, double click on Vehicle_Body. Ooooo, looks like we have a long list of things here. Click once on "Calip_L and go back to the Parameters tab. Under the "General" tab you should see "Wheel_Turn". Play with that and watch the wheel turn.

Do the same with most under this long list and you'll find you can do everything the product says it can.

The only thing I can't seem to duplicate with the Nemesis is the police lights and the metal guards on the front and back with the spare tire.

    Here it is...(so far).

There are options like the cow catchers and really cool sci-fi tires, but I am not stressing it at this point.

    Thanks again!

Ok another product I don't have so this again is a guess. Did you look in the Parameters pane when the beard is selected? From the product features page https://www.daz3d.com/unshaven-beard-for-genesis it states ◦Style Morphs: and morphs are genrally in the Parameters Pane when an item is selected.
