Luxrender: "Mix Shader" and "Fire and Smoke"

When I was rendering a scene with luxrender, I noticed my mix shaders and "Fire and Smoke" items aren't showing up like they did in 3Delight.

The first picture is Luxrender and the 2nd is 3Delight.

Is there a way to keep the smoke look from 3D to Lux?

Edit: Almost forgot about the mix shader. The woman from the far back suppose to have pink/purple bikini color, but it went missing in Luxrender.

Luxrender and 3Delight use very different shaders, so you will need to tweak the surface materials accordingly. The smoke, for example, appears to use 3DL volumetrics which don't work at all in Lux. How you convert the smoke will depend on whether you're using Reality or Luxus. Unfortunately in the current version of Reality, there is no way to turn custom props into volumetrics and it would have to be added by manually editing the files.

Using Luxus you can add 'volume' when adding Luxrender materials to your surface. Do so and select 'Clear' for the volume type. Add a tiny amount of colour into the Absorption colour setting (no more than 5, 5, 5 perhaps, 10, 10, 10 for especially thick smoke). After that you can set the material to a null so that the volume is the only thing giving the smoke its colour.

The other materials in your scene, such as the bikini, will need looking at on a case-by-case basis. A common mistake is to have specular colour as a white or near-white. In Luxrender, this can lead to washed out colours and really needs to be kept very low. A dull grey of 32,32,32 is probably better for clothing, but your mileage might vary.

Also, while on the topic, I noticed that the entire barbeque is made of metal in your Luxrender image, including the handle and the wheels. Ideally you want to keep material groupings separate so that you can keep the handle and other items as their own material. That way it looks a bit less over-chromed.

ROTFLMAO!! You may be having trouble with LUX but I just love the Render concept! This SO just made my day that little bit better. I hope you get the Image you wish and the help need, I do not use LUX or I'dd offer help, because I have to see this when you get it finished the way you want it to look.

I selected a smoke and clicked on glass2 - clear in presets, I couldn't find the absorption color setting. Or you're talking about ubervolume under lights?

Are you using Luxus or Reality? Don't use glass, you want just the smoke, not a glossy sheen.

In Luxus you'll need to add a Luxrender material to the object. You can do this by following the example in the image below.

I'm using Luxus. I got most of it set up until I got confused about the null part. Where can I find that?

Been trying to figure this out almost half a day today and I'm still stumped without any progress with this render app.
