Can someone clarify the Env Mode/Dome Mode

Lately I've been getting some wonky lighting when I load a new scene. I've gone into the the Render tab and see that something like Sun/Sky Only is selected. I don't know what these really mean so I never go in and change them but they seem to adjust on their own sometimes. I'm guessing because the last purchased Env I loaded was set to that? Which is fine, I can handle switching them, I just don't know what they mean. Can someone give me a laymans explaination for these terms?

Dome and Scene/Dome Only/Scene Only/Sun-Sky Only

Infinite Sphere, Finite Sphere and what the Ground part means if it's not self explainatory.

I'd really apprecite some help from anyone willing to take the time.

Thanks in advance,

A scene, when opened (rather than merged) will apply its render settings (if it has them).

Sun and Sky is the mode where you tell iray the time and location and it calculates the sun position for lighting the scene - you get the same settings in Dome mode with no map applied to the environment property. Sun and Sky does not support local lights. Dome is the HDR environment map, if oenm is applied, Scene is local lights loaded in the scene, Dome and Scene uses both.
