Help with understanding DAZ libraries. Any way to make them more Poser-like?

Hi, I've been using Poser for years and have a huge library of figuers that I have bought through the years, and I have custom made my own library that helps me get what I want pretty quick.

I've tested Daz a few times, but every time I get so frustrated with how the content library works that I can never relly learn how the program works. I just get frustrated, loose interest and go back to Poser.
Problem is that Smith Micro doesn't seem to make any new versions of Poser anymore, and Genesis 3 and 8 just seem too good to pass down on. So, again I bought some new figures here in the Marked Place, fired up DAZ Studio 4 and... got frustrated.

I don't know what it is I don't get about how the library here works, but it just seems so overly complicated. Why can't I find a hair figure when I know it's in that folder? Why must I open another tab in the program, go through 13 sub-folders to find that piece of clothing that I want?
*sighs...*

Is there ANY way to make the library work more like it does in Poser, so the transition from the one program to the other can go a little smoother for me?
Is there a "How-too for dummies" on DAZ libraries that explains in detail how to customize the libraries, or is there a kind soul out there that wants to help a newbee get started?

I've spent over 100$ in Marked Place and the same over at Renderosity, but I can't even figure out how to install the files from Renderosity because even though I extract them in what I think is the right folders, I can't find the products in the library.

I really want to give this program one last try, because the end results that people make look fantastic, but comming from the simplicity of Poser, this program is just one big headache...

I hope someone can help me and point me in a right direction.
Thanks.

Which content pane are you using? The Content Library, if you use the Daz studio Formats list, works with fiels on disc - it just doesn't split things by function the way the Poser libraries do, so you have the figure (People>Genesis whichever) and then in that you have folders for Characters, Clothing, Hair and Poses, with materials as subfolders of the actual item (which can of course be done in more recent versions of Poser too).
