I downloaded the Zbrush that was with the DAZ studio 4.6 pro because I wanted to make my own hairs.

But when i send the model to zbrush (Send to Zbrush) apears a message " Unable to connect with Pixologic ZBrush, check the instalation"

What's exactly the problem and how can I fix it? I need all de posibilities

If you ask I use Windows XP and both programs (DAZ and ZBrush) are the 32 bit version.

In ZBrush go to Preferences>GoZ>Path to DAZ Studio, if it's there, and make sure the path is correct.

It's the path to the application (DAZ Studio, that is) that needs to be there.

Do you have Zbrush ? The GoZ from Daz is only a bridge to send stuff back and forth between Daz Studio and the Zbrush program.

I too have been having real problems with GoZ. I have had the same message as shinunoyami.
I've notice several similar threads relating to Goz issues, and have tried most of the suggestions; eventually after the n'th re-install of both progs. I now have a connection to Zbrush from within DAZ4.6, except if I send to ZBrush from DS without first opening ZBrush, it tries to open ZBrush but it says that I don't have a valid licence...and I have to re-activate ZBrush (then it still doesn't work unless I have opened ZBrush first myself).
Once an item is sent to ZBrush (I can only get it to accept one item from DS, even if two or more are selected), I cannot get the item back into DS using GoZ from within ZBrush....it simply says that it has saved it to disk.....and YES; I have checked the DS4.6 path in ZBrush/pref/GoZ, and it is (and always has been) there.

I HAVE managed to get an object back into DS; but only by exporting it from ZBrush to a known folder, and then importing it back into DS from said folder......this has it's own issues, particularly around scale and placement.

PLEASE...there seem to be a lot of proposed solutions, some of which work for some people, but some of us are artists not computer whizzes... and would love to have a programme that having been provided and installed...''Does what it says on the Tin'' without us having to have a degree in computer science to make it work.

I have only just managed to get my CotentSM working again...No More..PLEASE!

I wonder if that could be a path issue - do you have multiple versions (Release N, Release N+1) on your system? Not that starting ZB4R2 directly threw an error, but it might going in via GoZ I suppose.

Thanks for the quick response Richard.

In answer to your question; No...I only have one version of ZB,..and that is the most up-to-date..ZB4R6.

    Any other suggestions?

This sounds like someone needs to look into it, unless other people post who use it all the time without any problems. We're getting ready to get Zbrush so of course I'm pushing for that, lol! (selfish motives)

I hope someone is looking in to it, I've tried GoZ with Modo601, and that appears to work OK?
I too would love to hear from anyone who has the latest up-to-date versions of both DS4.6 and Zbrush4R6, particularly if it is working as it should for them.

PS: Novica, Hope you do get ZBrush, it really is good, if a bit awkward to get used to at first,...but be patient and it will pay dividends...success to you.

Thanks! Just bought the medium Intuos5 Touch Wacom tablet and we already have the latest edition of Photoshop (my sons are learning that, I haven't touched it yet) so am now saving up for the Z. Digital Tutors has a series, am researching into all of those sites and YouTube. (Why pay when you can see it for free, lol.)

Don't forget the Pixologic website of ZBrush...this has a lot of good Tutorial videos in 'ZClassroom';..and some real gems of tutorial vids in the community forum.
It really is well worth watching some of these to get an insight into using ZBrush...before purchasing.. it's a lot of money (Though worth it in my opinion).

I don't know which 3D modelling progs you've used....but I think you will find that ZBrush has its own Unique ways...... a prog. that has 2.5D as well as3D..has to be a bit different!!?

I hope you and the boys' enjoy your current and future adventures in the world of 3D CG...Good Luck.

PS: and I hope that the GoZ Bridge between DS4.6 and ZBrush4R6 is soon sorted!

    Richard (&Novica;);

    Oh YippeeYippee....I hope.

    I might have found the solution to my particular problems (or some of them);
regarding the ability to send more than one item via GoZ from DS, this is now possible ( and No, I don't know why or how, probably all of the uninstall/re-installs?)
re: the ability to send back to DS from ZBrush...oops..not reading enough....for whilst the pixologic website doesn't offer specific support for DS GoZ, (third party), it does give general troubleshooting tips; one of which is to make sure that neither prog. is running as 'administrator run';...and for some reason my DS4.6 was running this way...stopped this, and now No problem going back and forth between the two.

Still having the prob, that if I don't start ZBrush first, DS will open it but it still asks me to activate it????

Still need to study and observe the correct protocols for using GoZ...there are some.

But hopefully this has sorted the main issue!

perhaps the DAZShop could include a shortcut with reference to GoZ at Pixologic.

    Thanks.

I really wish I could offer you and Novica a solution since I am using both the most recent version of DAZ Studio (4.6) and ZBrush (4R6), but I don't have any issues with either. I can send items back and forth, multiple items included, and I am never asked where ZBrush is installed or to activate. I did have issues at one point, but deleting the DAZ Studio related folders from GoZ location on my hard drive, then reinstalling GoZ for DAZ Studio solved my problems.

One thing I would like to suggest to GoZ users is to periodically clear the GoZ cache (Preferences:GoZ) in ZBrush. This helps especially when ZBrush thinks you are sending the same thing over as used in a previous session, which can sometimes leave things masked or attached to other subtools. I discovered this after the hundredth time of importing Genesis only to see a pair of shoes show up in ZBrush with Genesis. If these subtools are not related to something open in DAZ Studio, then it can cause either program to crash. So, I always clear the cache before starting any new projects or sessions. I don't believe this is in any way related to your issues, but thought it was a good tip to share.

I had the same problem until I downloaded the latest GOZ from http://pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/zplugins/#zbrush4r6.php

Then went to prefs > GOZ > update all paths, after which its working!

I can now go back and forth with multiple items...the only issue that I now have is when DS GoZ starts ZBrush...I have to re-activate ZBrush; I can avoid this simply by ensuring that ZBrush is already open....not ideal,...but it works.
RE: clearing the GoZ cache in ZBrush...Yeah!..I had noticed that, and now try to remember to clear it on each new occasion..but thanks for mentioning, little things like that can cause infuriating problems if you don't know!
RE: renewing GoZ...yeah...I've done that too...but I still have to activate ZBrush..unless I remember to open it first...but thanks..and I'm sure someone will explain why this is happening...myself, now I can use the GoZ bridge...I sha'nt try solving it at the moment.

I have a brand new install of Dax Studio 4.6 Pro and Zbrush 4R6 on my MacBook Pro on OSX 10.9.1 and am getting the "Unable to connect with Pixelogic TM ZBrush, Check the Installation" error message. ZBrush has the correct link to DAZ in the Preferences Goz Path to DAZStudio64 window.

How do I check if DAZStudio has the correct path to ZBrush?

    Cheers

    David

I'm having the same problem. I've made sure to correct the path the DAZ in my ZBrush preferences, and I reinstalled GoZ, just as it said to do in the DAZ Help files. I still get the same error message: ” Unable to connect with Pixologic ZBrush, check the instalation” I'm running the latest versions of Daz and ZBrush and have no earlier versions of either, so this is not an upgrade problem. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get this to work, please? I bought ZBrush so I could use it with Daz, and yes, it is an expensive programme.

isales, did you get it working?
I know it's been said before, but your last two numbers of the daz version has to match the version of GoZ's last two digits- so if you've got the latest versions (which you said you did) and you've said it's not an upgrade so there was no install/uninstall issues- I googled and here's what I found these threads-

    EDIT: FROM THIS THREAD- http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/24860/#380346
and this got it to work:

Update ZBrush to the latest release by unistalling the version you have first and then installing the latest release. After you reinstall, you have to reinstall GoZ over the updated install even though the latest version includes GoZ is part of the build. GoZ appears to be buggy in the update if you uninstall a previous version of ZBrush to install an updated version.

Here's the link to the GoZ install files. http://pixologic.com/zbrush/downloadcenter/zplugins/#zbrush4r6.php
