Hi, I’m not sure if I am doing something wrong but when I go to render my scene it takes anywhere from 1 minute to two minutes before the rendering begins to kick in.

That would be transferring data to your GPU. Is there a lot of content?

Hi, not really that I know of, one character scantily dressed and a back drop with lights, no furniture or rooms or further characters or props.

Just by adjusting the fstop and shutter speed in the render settings for example the scene took twice as long to load and begin the render.

Its not a problem if this is how things work I just wondered why there was the delay.

Im using an i7, 16gig ram, Gtx 1060

    thanks.

it does sound a touch on the slow side, unless the textures are very high resolution (and/or you've increased the compression thresholds). I'm not sure why adjusting camera settings would increase the delay (though it might reasonably repeat the original delay, I'm not sure how efficient Iray is at transferring only changed data).

  • When you want to render a scene instead of hitting render right away go to iray preview mode and wait until it starts rendering. Then when your viewports begins to render, hit render. Somehow that's faster than pressing render right away.

ThanksI will give that a try.
