HI. I am new to Daz..........but very frustrated. How do I save my files as a Jpeg so they can be rendered in Painter......BY just saving the files they open up as small Jpeg............Starting to think all these programs are a waste of Time!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds to me like you are trying to open a thumbnail image, which will be no use to you at all.

When you have your Scene set up in DAZ Studio, go to Render > Render Settings, and you can decide on what size the finished render will be, up to 10,000 x 10,000 pixels. Renders can be saved as JPG, PNG, TIF and BMP. You can then take the image into Painter and work on it if you wish.

To save a render that you have done, but is no longer visible, use File > Save Last Render.

Since you hadn't hit the all-important Render button before, you should be aware that when you use the software rendering, you may get very different results from what is in your viewport. The viewport window will not show you some texture details, nor will it show things like shadows and reflections. So if something in your viewport looks wrong to you, do a render and see if it looks better.

There's also something vitally important that many newcomers to 3D don't catch on to at first; your scene file is a description of the objects in your scene, including each object's position, poses, morphs and textures, plus other things like cameras and lights. It isn't your render. The render is a picture looking at your scene through one of the cameras set up in the scene. It's just an image file, it isn't your scene. If you save only the scene but not the render, you don't have a picture. If you save only the render but not the scene, you will lose all the work you did in setting up the scene when you close the program. It feels like you're "saving your work twice" but you'll soon get used to it.

Yes I have noticed that......Sometimes my scene is not wide enouth....(it has cut something out, or is a narrow Jpeg)...Do I need to save the entire content as a scene first......then re-open it up, render then save as Jpeg etc, etc.

You need to go to the drop down menu for the viewport as shown below, and turn on the Aspect frame, which will show you what will be included in the final render of the Scene.

Then, once you have the Aspect Frame visible, you set its actual size in the Render Settings dialog, in the Dimensions section.
