Genesis Clothing & Dynamic Clothing
I am fairly new to Daz Studio but I found a nice tutorial that goes through the process of making custom clothing for Genesis that can then be used with the Transfer Utility to make it fit most Genesis shapes. So far I have only sampled the tip of the iceberg but I have managed to make such clothing with excellent results.
Recently I discovered the Dynamic Clothing plugin in Daz. I really like the added level of realism that this provides.
As far as I understand the OptiTex Dynamic Clothing plugin basically allows the Dynamic Clothing functionality to be used with Dynamic Clothing provided by OptiTex. Either their freebie clothing or clothing purchased from their store. As far as I understand, it can not be used to create your own Dynamic Clothing.
I would assume that Dynamic Clothing is probably just Genesis clothing (or maybe not even Genesis clothing) that has some additional data regarding the additional draping functionality.
So the question would be, is it possible to extract the clothing mesh from Dynamic Clothing, modify it a bit and then re-integrate it back into the Dynamic Clothing ASSUMING THAT THE EXTRA DRAPING FUNCTIONALITY DATA REMAINS THE SAME. Although this would not be as good as being able to create Dynamic Clothing it would allow at least a little bit of variety. For example, one could take one of the freebie dresses and add some cut-out panels on the side of the dress. Such cut-outs are not likely to likely to significantly change how the draping functions and thus the draping data could remain the same.
Obviously such a compromise solution would have limitations. For example, if one took one of the freebie dresses and then cut the bottom of it into strands then the result would probably be not as expected because the draping data would probably still think of the bottom of the dress as solid as opposed to a number of strands...but, as I said, it would allow small changes to add just a touch of individuality.
I tried looking at the contents of the Dynamic Clothing. Inside the content.zip file there are typically files in a few directories such as textures, runtime and data. When I dug deep into these directories they resolved down to some files with DSB extensions. From looking at the contents (and later confirmed by the Internet) these seem to be Daz Studio Binary files. That is about as far as I got...
Anyone know if extracting the mesh and re-integrating the mesh of Dynamic Clothing is possible?

Sorry, again no — the DAZ dynamics don't work that way. What you get installed is what you have, period. The most you can do is substitute the textures so you can change colours and appearances, although many dynamic clothes sets do include variations, so you can have e.g. long, medium or short skirts or trousers, or different styles of dress. But this is all built into the clothes when they're created, we can't do it ourselves.
Thanks for the info...and that is too bad...would have been nice to be able to do at least a little modification.
