Is this where I get to whimper and sob (and maybe get some sympathy) because my new super-duper rendering machine has a fried motherboard and I'm trying to rebuild my old pc and the only backup i have for the c: drive is from Dec and even if it it works, my content drive is at the repair shop with my new rig?

What if i admitted i fried the mobo? At least that's what the repair guy says but it was blue-screening before i tried to put the new heatsink on. And what if all he does is replace the mobo and it still blue-screens?

    Can I cry now?

Oh, dang, that is UBER complaint-worthy!!!

    {{{{sandman_max}}}} Crying definitely allowed.

...but which "Runtime" for I also see one in the 4.6 Library folder setup as well?

The Poser Runtime I use is off my S3A 64 install (which I still use for plugins and content that is not compatible with 4.6).

This is one of the reasons I find it confusing. Carrara reads my S3A Content/Runtime structure just fine, it sees nothing in the 4.6 Library one.

Okay KK your not this silly. In DS4.6 you list the MAIN folder as DS Format and Poser Format You can then ADD extra Runtimes to the Poser formats So the My Library/Runtime IS the Top Runtime for DS only content But ANY Poser Runtime is fine for the Poser and DS format content if that Runtime is listed in the Paths.

You got a problem some place if Carrara will not see the DS4.6 Runtime. My Rara 6 Pro see's it just fine.

More kilometer long pikes sinking Viking longboats, different camera angle, lighting fooled with.

It needs haze so I'm going to load up a haze camera and see what I can do. More to learn.. argh..

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the bloody haze camera has introduced rendering artifacts where the haze intersects with the Braking Waves object! (very angry face)

Turned the shading rate down to .8, upped pixel and shadow samples, and re-rendering. This should take all day.. (meh face)

    Beer time!

...however until I actually had to try and install Genesis content by hand, I was unaware 4.6 also had a Poser runtime, really. As I mentioned I didn't want to mess anything up concerning Genesis content so I just let the installers do it.

On my old system I already had both 2.3.3.146 and S3A running before I added 4.0 (and it's updates) so the Poser runtime I used was already intact. I had nothing installed in the S3A Documents/Library as I just mapped the 2.3 directories to 3A. I used that structure as a pattern when I set up the runtimes on my new system and rebuilt them under S3A since again, I still use 3A for some content that is not compatible with 4.6. 4.6 only got the Daz Genesis oriented content installed to it.

When I looked at a the DIM.zip file for Daz Studio 4.6 content installation I saw the following:

Data folder: had Daz3D/Genesis/Base . OK that I see.

People Folder: Genesis . That makes sense

Runtime (I take it this is the folder where the Metadata resides?) OK here is where the confusion comes in.

Under "My Library" besides the Data and People (and a number of other named folders Like Materials, Props, Poses etc.) there is also a "Runtime" folder. However unlike the one in S3A, it only has the following four sections: "Geometries", "Libraries", "Support", "Textures". Is this where I need to put Textures for 4.6 (Genesis) related content or do I put them in my Content/Runtime/Textures folder under S3A?

Understand now why I am a little confused by this?

...so anything is specifically "Daz" Content (not .dpc or ps) that has a Runtime folder in the installer goes into the My Library/Runtime, not the Content/Runtime folder then.

That might explain the path errors I've been getting.

No, it goes in My Library or in Content - as long as both are selected as DAZ Studio Content Directories.

Great, the haze cam screwed up the Breaking Waves and trashed the render. I had to restore an older save. This blows!

I'll load the Fog Tool Deluxe and see if I can get the same effect without the stinking artifacting! (angry face)

ugh. gonna try to forget i watched starship troopers 2.

watched marvel's avengers. totally enjoyed it. ironman has snappy dialog. awesome fight scene between Thor, Ironman, and Captn America. then it was Hulk fighting Thor and that fight was strangely hot, thought i felt a hormone flutter or two - is this was it's like for guys watching chick-fights cuz i never understood that fascination.

and then Hulk was slamming Loki into the floor "puny god" tee hee it was so funny the groaning noise from Loki, Hulk packs a wallop

where did whats her name Romanov come from? never heard of her before, Scarlet Johansen is pretty, remembers her as a blond in 'Lost in Translation'

    it's disgusting icky hot outside.

one more movie to watch today 'snow white and the huntsman', my virtual bf is in it.

i'm seeing a bunch of screen captioned moments of Hulk smacking down Loki, the scene must've hit a lot of funny bones

tee hee and then there's a total surprise Hulk smacks Thor out of frame, it was so funny.

...be prepared for extremely long render times. In a recent pic I did it took almost four hours to render with the fog (on my render beast) Rendering without the fog took about 18 min.

You should just be able to delete the fog camera and use the normal default one again.

Organizing 3d.sk photos is tedious. After I get this done, I will ask in the DS forum how to get texture templates with DS4.6

I liked Justice League better personally :)

(Doesn't help that I've never seen the Avengers, but what I've seen so far it doesn't look like it'd interest me any)

Name space changed in the 4 release so older installers don't know about My Library. Content/Runtime and My Library/Runtime are equivalent, which is confusing cos there are two distinct hierarchies in the namespace now :o)
