New to DAZ - Got Some Things Down But Have Some Questions
Ok, I've only been working with DAZ a few weeks now, but I have some of the basics down (i.e. Lighting, Content, Cameras, Morphs, Shaping). Basically I understand some of the basics. The tutorials were a great help to start and found a lot of helpful info on-line as well.
Now that is said, onto the help part.
I don't use the smart pane that often. To be honest, it isn't very smart, well is very limited. Not sure how or if I can even add "stuff" to this pane to make it more useful. Outside of getting the base figures, I never really use it. I've created a few characters that I would like to add to this to make it easier to use in scene creation. I am guessing they need to be actors. When I try to create one, it asks for bones. Not sure how or what these are outside of what is already on my character (i.e. neck, fingers, etc).
This leads me to the save as section of my help. I kinda have some things figured out but not really sure the benefits of each nor the subset section of the Save As category.
Next, I find that for Genesis and Genesis 2 the "default" option and shaping features are limited. I know there are lots of packages I can buy, but right now need to keep spending to a minimum. I did purchase , eyebrows last night because the preset I added lacked eyebrows and after nearly an hour and a half tinkering, googling, and banging my head against the laptop KB, I broke down and bought the basic package. I'd like to tinker with Sally Mae and Adora hair some more. Done some very interesting things just with shaping with Sally Mae. However they still seem limited. I am guessing to do anything further I will need to use a program like Gimp or Photo Shop. I have Gimp installed; so if that is the case I will try it out.
Next, on some clothing items that I have installed by 3rd Party, I keep getting Duplicate Image Files found. I installed the Fix Duplicate Script in the directories I "believe" are causing the issue, I run the script by selecting the file, everything seems to run (i.e. no errors) but when I reload the scene again, I get the same error message. It's very annoying.
On the topic of annoying, I keep getting a box when I load DAZ that asks me to supply the code for aniMate2. I never purchased it and have had this error since installing DAZ Studio. I clicked the box to stop showing me several times and hit okay, but it still shows up. I went to the installed to see if I could remove it, but no dice. So, I have no idea where it came from. Help!
Lastly, since I use the Content Library 95% of the time, I have content all over the place. I use DAZ on both my laptop and desktop downstairs. I installed DAZ on my laptop first, so the library is all a mess. After about a week, I installed it on the desktop. Having already learned many of the painful things after my first install, that library is much cleaner. I use the laptop more though for convenience and the desktop downstairs is hooked up to our 42" Sony LCD (main TV). I can't use that computer (though it is extremely more powerful i7 4770k 16GB) PC for obvious family traffic control reasons. Is there an easy way to clean up my laptop Content Library? An efficient way? I have stuff all over the place, and though I generally don't have problems loading it in my scenes, finding items can be frustrating and my content tree a giant redwood! HELP!
Thanks in advance!

Can't answer all your questions now, but there are some mighty fine Genesis morph packages available for free...
V4 Morphs for genesis: http://www.sharecg.com/v/58198/
Ramworks's morphs for Genesis: http://www.ramwolffsworld.com/3D_Directory/Packs/RAMWorksMorphsGenesis.zip
I've bought several packs, but these are versatile enough I keep coming back to them.
For the duplicate ID's you can download http://rhaseltine.ovbi.org/Fix_Duplicate_IDs.zip unzip it to your script library. Then find it under the script library inside DS, right click it and choose Create Custom Action. That will put a Script menu on your main menu bar and a choice to run the script. In your content library find one of the items that causes duplicate ids and the run that script from the menu. This should popup a window and you can select any/all of the items in that directory that cause the issue and it will fix them.
A 30 day free trial of aniMate comes with Daz 4.6. There maybe a trial serial number in your serial numbers on your account page at Daz (My Account->My Serial Numbers) I'm not positive since I don't show one and I'm not sure what I did to get it to quit asking me for one.
Awesome! Thanks! Every little bit helps I always say!
I was able to figure out the whole actor deal as well as how to get a metadata file created and add one character at least the Smart Content! Two more to go!
Ok that seemed to work
Thanks!
