daz 4.6 pro and genesis 1 and 2 on external drive
Hi everyone !
I would like to get my daz 4.6 pro and genesis (1 an 2) on an external drive : how can I do ? Do i have to create a program files AND a documents and setting files ?
I tried to install those programs but every time i open daz, i get an error message telling he can't find the path "C/documents and settings etc" on my computer, but the path should not be "C" but the letter of my external drive, no ?
Can you explain me, with simple words because my english is not so good how to get wright ? I have to uninstall daz yet ? Wich installer do i have to use for genesis, .trx only ? I want to install all manually....
I use also poser 9 for victoria 4, it is easier for me, and genesis don't work very well for me in poser, so i want to use Daz for Genesis only...
I'm waiting for your sweet help, hope you understand my problem !
thank you very much by advance !

You need to go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, and you should see a screen like I have shown below.
Add the place where you content is now, and delete the old one if there is nothing stored there now. Hope that makes sense?
Also I would only move "My Library" to the external drive. Not running Daz locally on your system drive will make the program run EXTREMELY slow, not only for your renders, but even general use of the program.
As JimmyC stated above, all you have to do is copy your entire My Library folder structure to the drive and point Daz to the external drive folder you moved the files to. Once you verify everything is working alright, you can delete the My Library folders on your system drive.
Those folders are going to be the main content eating up hard drive space...so it is the main one you will move.
Also, make sure your Install Manager points to the new My Library folder, as it will, by default, put any Daz-purchased items into your Users folder on your system drive!
You do NOT want to move just the Runtime folder -- move the entire My Library. Although it is true that most of the space is the My Library\Runtime\Textures folder.
Yeah, my apologies, when I say "runtimes" I meant the ENTIRE "My Library" folder and all the subfolders...not the actual "Runtime" folder itself...sorry for the misunderstanding. Thought I made that clear in the first sentence, but did mean the entire directory structure of the My Library folder and subfolders...
Edited the original to be a bit less confusing ;)
It's okay I understand. Thank you very much for your clearly explanations !
But I still have older Daz studio 4.5 program on my computer, should I have to uninstall it, if i delete the library folder ? And by the way, i don't have to create the folder "documents and settings/users" on my external drive if i copy the library folder ?
I can't try now your solutions but don't worry, I'll tell you how it is soon !
Thank you for your help !
You don't have to create a "Documents and Settings/Users" folder path if you don't want to...the main thing is pointing to "My Library". For example, when I moved my folder to my external drive, I just put it in "My Library" and didn't create the extra folders. The big thing is making sure it is pointed to the new location within DAZ and the Install Manager so it knows where everything is...
