Render hair more basic

Hi,

How do I make the hair render more basic like the picture with the grey hair instead of the more real life style on the left?

Thanks

  • select the materials of the hair and put a plain shader like a plastic shader on it.

Here is an example of Shavonne Hair with a yellow plastic shader

Remove the opacity map in this case, though the results with other hair will vary depending on how the hair is modelled and textured.

It depends on whether you are using the Iray or 3Delight render engine. For Iray, the main colour of the hair would be the Base Color channel. For 3Delight it would be the Diffuse channel. For an entirely toon effect, you could, in addition to removing the opacity maps (Cutout Opacity in Iray, Opacity channel in 3Delight) as Richard suggested, you could also remove the texture maps in Base or Diffuse channels and use a purely procedural colour (solid colour).

I'm not certain what you mean when you refer to "brightness".

You can also download Gray Materials free from SpyroRue's DeviantArt page (for Iray):

They are available for general items as well as G8, G3 and G2.
