Hey all, long time no render. I picked up Bryce 7 Pro yesterday and I'm running into an issue which I can't find anywhere on the forums. When I run the Bryce_7.1.0.109_Win32.exe installer, seemingly nothing happens. If I check my event viewer, I get the following:

My computer is figured as follows:
OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
CPU: Core i7-3770k
Memory: 32GB
Video: GTX 680 and GTX 650Ti

I'm trying to think of things that are unusual on my system. I know have more memory than most and I do have six monitors attached, but I don't think that would affect the installer. Has anyone run into this issue?

Thanks

Soon as bugtracker will deign to email me a password I'll have a look there, but off the top of my head I can't say I've seen this bug before. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

As you say, I can't imagine the extra memory or monitors will interfere with the installation process.

Have you tried simple things like... setting the install to run as administrator? For example?

I had that issue of an installer that just didn't launch - though not Bryce, and later I found out that I have to run that installer as administtrator by right-clicking on the installer program, then it worked. Strange it was, because that installer launched on my Win 7 (German) i7 without hiccups but on the Win 7 (English) i3 it behaved so funny.

Thanks for the quick responses. I have tried running it as Admin. I've also tried running it in XP compatibility mode. Still no luck.

I installed mine on to a different drive, not the one with the OS on it.

Well, I can't even get to a place where I can select where to install to. I've figured out the problem though. On a hunch I decided to redownload the files and I keep getting errors that it can't connect to the server or that the download has been halted. It looks like my original download (for which there was no error message) is about 1.3MB smaller than it should be.

I've never really encountered this before. I'll keep plugging away at it. Thanks for the responses.

Edit: And now that I've downloaded it with IE, it works. Firefox wasn't ready for Bryce, I guess. :P

Oh great that you could make it work. I considered recommending another download try. I've downloaded quite a few things from here over the years and it happend exactly once that I had to re-download stuff that arrived here corrupted.

Yeah, it's weird. Literally every Firefox download was corrupted, but IE downloaded everything with no issues. May be a bug in FF.

Don't blame Firefox. I read in another thread that downloads were acting up earlier in the day. I use Pale Moon which is a 64-bit Mozilla browser with no problems with DAZ downloads.

very strange because I use FF all the time with no problems. Haven't touched ie for years

In fact, I almost never use IE. Earlier today, I had issues using Chrome and had to resort to FF. Usually, both work fine. I make all downloads with FF. But somehow the web from Europe to the US has some issues, not only for this site. Streaming radio from the US has experienced a lot of interruptions lately and since I found a mirror in Europe, everything's well again.

...interesting indeed, I had no issue installing and registering it to my Win7 64 bit workstation.

So Kyoto Kid! Tell us how you did it?

...basically just used the normal .exe from my installer archive (since I had the latest update) opened the app, then went to my account and copied the SN, pasted it in the field, hit Enter, and it worked. Took a couple tries because of my poor connection but it's been working fine since.

Never tried installing with the DIM as that wasn't working very well for me back then due to my slow connection.

    Ok! Thanks!

the problem was the lousy system for downloads at the DAZ3D pages... meaning that the links that were given me only pointed to other packages than the one I just purchased!
