changing eye and clothing colors

Being extremely new to Daz and 3D modeling in general i would like to know if anyone can give me a quick rundown on how to change eye color and / or clothing colors for Gen 8 female characters.  Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

Go to Material in the menu on the left and choose Eyes or Iray Eyes and choose the color/reflection avaiable.
Go to Wardrobe menu left and see what clothes are for G8 and make sure to have G8 figure marked then double click
    the clothing you want.

Changing the colour of objects is relatively easy if they do not use texture maps and the colours are based purely on the settings in the Surfaces tab as My 3D Spin has suggested. Such materials are often referred to as procedural. Depending upon whether you are using Iray or 3Delight as your render engine, the main colour for the surface that you select will be the Base Colour or the Diffuse Colour respectively. Clicking on the colour bars (showing the colour and RGB settings) for these parameters in the Surfaces tab will open a colour picker that allows you to select a colour to your liking. Other settings that can influence the appearance, such as Specular colour, Ambient colour, Reflection colour, Subsurface colours, etc. You will just need to experiment a bit to get the results you want. If you are happy with the way the originals look, and only want to change the colour, stick to the Base or Diffuse colours.

Now, if the item that you wish to change comes with texture maps, as they often do, then the colour is largely determined by those texture maps - image files shown as tiny thumbnails that you can see under the Surfaces tab to the left of the colour bar. Changing the colour under these circumstances is trickier and more limited, as using the colour picker will result in a mixing of the colours in the texture map and the diffuse/base colour you have selected. Many characters may come with multiple texture maps so you can choose different colours by swapping the texture maps. Of course you can also eliminate the texture maps by clicking the thumbnails and choosing "none", but that will eliminate some of the details you wish to retain. Talking about eye colour, you may have other characters for the figure you are using that have multiple eye colour options, and you could use one of those instead. Finally, if all else fails, then the only option is to open up an image editing program and create your own, new texture maps for the surfaces.
