Currency Question

DDCreateDDCreate Posts: 1,404

Sooo there are some bad people I know. Because I made them. And they need to exchange a significant amount of money for something that is illegal. The only money prop I have is "Pocket Filler" and there are only single bills included. And these guys...these guys are looking for FAT STACKS. So I made a prop (turned out pretty good in my opinion) but it's also realistic. I used images from Google.

I just want to make sure there aren't any rules I'm breaking by hopefully selling a comic that depicts a prop in a few scenes with real currency textures.

EDIT: And from the horse of the mouth, so to speak: https://www.treasury.gov/services/Pages/Regulations-for-Reproducing-US-Currency-Images.aspx

Quote: "Here is a summary for authorized color illustrations:

    • Illustration must be less that .75 or more than 1.5, in linear dimension, of the currency
    • Illustration must be one-sided.
    • Destroy or erase anything used in the making of the illustration that contains an image or part of the illustration."

I'd think that the same rules apply for your comic...

Sounds a bit harsh that one has to destroy one's computer after making a digital image of a banknote. wink

And @DDCreate: the really bad guys use € instead of $ smiley

Yeah, I don't know. Those kind of seems like rules for physical representations. The stacks of money would appear as a prop, obviously money but not like a zoomed up version that someone woul be able to print off and buy something with. And the band around it sort of obscures the bill as well.

@maikdecker: Are implying that a person can't use US Currency and still be "Gangsta with an "a"?  cheeky

I dont think you will have issues, the laws/rules are to prevent counterfeiting, which you are not trying to do.

https://www.daz3d.com/g-i-n-a-agent has a stack of money, so apparently someone thought it was OK.

Hey look at that! Never saw that product. I like mine better. But I'm biased.

I'm not at my computer, but there is Free Money, which has singles, stacks, foldable and crumpled bills. I think I picked it up on Share CG, but will have to check that when I get home.

Cool, always looking for new money props, please post a link if you find it.

I have gotten a lot of use out if this case. It's rigged and works in both poser and DS. I just slapped some iray shaders on it and replaced the original money textures https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/the-real-deal/97259/

    Found it!  It's at ShareCG:

    http://www.sharecg.com/v/25053/browse/11/Poser/Free-Money!

It includes 19th century bills, plus 19th/20th century coins.
