Interior lighting & ghost lighting

Hi!

I’m new to rendering. I’m having difficulty with lighting room interiors. I have watched several videos online and turtorials that I purchased. I’ve searched the forums as well and saw to try ghost lighting so I purchased that, too (although I’m not sure I am actually using it correctly because there are no instructions that I saw).

I have been trying for a few days to light the set called A Cozy Studio but the renders come out very dark except for the 1 area the distant light is coming in through the window. This set even comes with preset lights but they don’t light the scene either. Example, the kitchen area, where no window light, is still completely dark even with the preset lights and trying to turn up the light’s settings.

I must be doing something wrong. Do you have any suggestions? Or know of a really good video I can find online or buy?

Any help/tips/advice is much appreciated! Thanks!

A Cozy Studio is for 3Delight, so the included light sets will not work if you try to render in IRay. Switch to 3Delight in the render settings pane, or delete all lights and switch to IRay, then you have to create new lights for your scene. You can apply emissive shaders to the lamp bulbs, use ghost lights and/or some indoor HDRI. There are many options, search the forums for indoor scenes in IRay.

with a hdri. That's how I light all my interiors. I mostly use the HDRi's from DimensionTheory

Thank you so much! I’m still learning I need to oay not attention to sets for Iray verses 3Delight. And thank you for the tips on switching it to IRay!

Thank you! I will definitely give this a try! I did find this late yesterday after I posted. Will definitely give it a try. I appreciate it!
