Installation Mayhem - Library Crazyness... Please help me!
Hello,
Iam close to getting crazy. I cant get it working. THIS is my problem ...
I have installed POSER 2014 PRO. Now I want to install Daz 3D Studio 4.6 PRO. Installed without problems. When I launch Studio first time .... Iam getting following error
Could not open the start up scene :/Applications/Poser Pro 2012/Runtime/People/Genesis/Genesis.duf. File does not exist.
1. Iam on OSX
2. I dont have Poser 2012 installed ?!?
3. I installed then the content downloader and downloaded everything I purchased and I have access to in Daz 3d.
Still, Content Lib is empty, Error shows up :-(
All this runtime this, runtime that. Library here, Library there is very confusing. I have multiply Daz3d Folders found. In Library, my Library, Documents, Root ... eeeek!
Is there a simple STEP-by-STEP how to get Studio installed and running with all content? (Ignore my Poser 2014). I even uninstalled Poser but this getting the Poser 2012 missing file error :(
Iam frustrated ... really ..
:-(

I tried again. Deleted everything. Installed Studio 4.6 Pro then the downloader. I setup Content Folder to be
user/documents/daz3d/studio/
I installed Genesis Starter packs.
In Studio the icons are broken. When I click on a item it says
allusers/documents/daz3d/studio/file..bla not found. Why does it not look in USER folder? Why allusers? Where can I set it up correctly?
Who invented this kind of crazy libraries?
DAZ Studio looks for content where you tell it to look.
If you go to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, you will see DAZ Studio Formats, Poser Formats and Other Import Formats. Under DAZ Studio Formats, you should have the path listed to your content folder, and the same path EXACTLY for the Poser Formats too.
I am using Windows, so I don't know if it is exactly the same on Mac, but it should be very similar.
How did you install your content? Did you use the DIM? If so, you have to check where it is installing to so that it is put into the correct folder.
I realise that it can be diificult at first, but there is plenty of infoirmation available on the forums here about how to install content. If you are still having problems, post again, and I'm sure we can get a Mac user to help you more.
Thank you JimmyC. I try it again. What makes me wonder the DIM installs the content NOT in the folder I told him.
If you look in the DIM, in your Installed tab, you can right click on any item, and you will get a pop-up menu as shown below.
That should list everything that has been installed by DIM, and also where it installed it to. Give it a try, and if you need more help, we are still here.
