File location problems

After installing the newest version of Daz Studio I had problems getting Genesis to load. I finally got it to load on startup but now I am still having problems with all of my other files. I'm using the self installer and it keeps installing things into Users/Public/... instead of my specific my documents section (My Documents/Daz 3D/...).

I have no idea what is supposed to be installed in what folder. I have tried copy pasting things and manually downloading things but I can't seem to get anything into the correct folder. My folders are now a mess with "Content" folders inside of "Content" folders and "Data" folders inside of "Content" folders and so on. I do not understand the folder structure that Daz is using. I don't know where each individual file or where an unzipped file package is supposed to go.

I have content I have purchased previously that is not showing up in Daz anymore. I tried downloading it all again and tried the manual download as well as the install manager and can't get anything to work.

Right now none of the Genesis stuff is working (it says files don't exist or that there was an error), such as the various clothing or clothing materials. The dragon isn't there. My previous content such as some RawArt stuff and V4 aren't there.

I do not understand the folder structure or what goes where and would prefer to be able to just use the simple self installer program. Can someone please tell me where to go and what to do to point everything to install and run from the proper folder in order to get all of my content working? Everything was fine until this new installer system. Now all of my Daz stuff is screwed up to the point where I'm ready to just delete everything and start all over from scratch.

Are you using DIM to install your products or are you installing manually.

I just went back and set the installation folder to my proper folder and used the installation manager and it's still not working. I tried the DIM first and it was installing to the wrong folder. Then I tried installing them manually but I don't understand where to put everything. Then I directed the DIM to the proper folder and I'm still having problems, mostly with older things like my Lizardians pack. My V4 and M4 are completely gone now and not even available in my downloads. I've been using Daz Studio since 3.0.

When I do try to open some things, such as Genesis, it says, "An error occurred while reading the file, see log for more details." But I can't find the log so I can't even read it and post what it says here to try to figure out what the error is. I am so lost it isn't even funny. I have never had this many problems trying to get my content into Daz.

In DS, Help > Troubleshooting > View Log File

Can you post the following 2 screenshots:
    1) In DS, Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager > expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats" sections
    2) In DIM, Ready to Install tab > check the "Show Details" box in the lower right corner.

I opened the log and all it says is, "Error reading file, see log for more details." It doesn't say anything else.

I've attached the screenshots you asked for. In the DS Preferences you can see that I added more paths and folders. I did this because these are the places I tried to install everything both with the DIM and manually. I'm wondering if I shouldn't just uninstall and delete every single thing, wiping my computer clean of all DAZ stuff, then reinstalling everything. Then my V4 would definitely be gone since there is no more download link for her in my account.

Other than the last 2 entries in the DAZ Studio Formats those should be fine -- are the same paths in the Poser formats section?

You can download your products from Product Library, or if they were installed in the wrong place in DIM just uninstall them and they'll show up in the Ready to Download tab again (or Ready to Install, if you didn't have DIM delete them after installing).

Hi, dont feel alone!!!! I have the same problem. I just posted another thread (I HATE INSTALL MANAGER!!!) before I saw yours or I would have jumped in here. Now that I have moved up to 4.6 and now have the Install Manager , about 90% of my content that it installed, is all messed up and well over half of it will not work at all!! All of my free and older stuff that I have that IM will not download I have installed manually by going thru the data, people, and runtime folders and put the content into the folders they need to go into. Its a long process BUT!! after a few hic ups and some help from others here I have it all up and working fine!!! BUT!!! as for the Daz Install Manager,, I cant stand it!! I know its new, and that it serves a great purpose but IMHO! I think it really needs to be gone thru and fixed. Iam very sure that the Gods here will help. I Love Daz Studio and I get pretty crazy mad at it sometimes LOL!!! but dont fret as Iam sure someone will help us out!!! Iam just a beginner here but if I can help you with installing your IM non downloadable content I will just let me know!!!

I would love to just manually download and install them but I have no idea where to put them. Again, with my V4, M4, my Lizardians that I purchased...can't access any of them. I can get some content to work and other content not to but have no idea why. I'm lost. How do I get my content back?

The DIM created the last two entries in the content location when I downloaded my older content. But none of it is showing up in DAZ. It really sucks to have paid money for content and to have no access to it.

Any ideas on how to get my V4, and Lizardians back? They're all gone. Their folders are listed in the content library on the right hand side of the screen but the files won't show up. The Lizardians have a different file extension than newer morphs and my V4 files are all .obj format (they are from DS 3). They're all there but apparently not usable in DS 4.6? I've attached screenshots to show all of this.

V4 is listed under Poser Formats(or My DAZ 3D Library if using DIMM)/My Library/Figures/DAZ People

Found them all! Thank you so much!! This was driving me nuts! I found my V4, M4, and Lizardians under the poser formats. I was not aware that they were listed there. Much appreciated!
