  • It sounds like you would just need to add a light somewhere out of frame, make it relatively widespread, and then you'd be good to go. That's the fast way (and probably what I'd do for general lighting), but you could also go into different surfaces and make them emissive lights to change the brightness there.

I don't have that set, but it almost looks as though the lights are set to blue. Is there an option under the lighting to change the colour? Comparing the promo with your render, the white appearance of the lights in the promo is very different from the blue tinge I see on the lights in your render.

Oops, I just discovered that I do have the set (Question to self: How do you know when you have too much content? Answer: When you can't remember what you have). I'll have a look and see if I can find the problem.

Okay, I'm back. The dim, bluish lighting that you are getting is from having the headlamp turned off, using only the environment dome for your lighting. As dannysantoro said, you can play with adding different lights to your scene to experiment with the effects, or try turning the surfaces into emissives. However, if you simply want to recreate the lighting that you see in the promo images, you simply need to set the auto headlamp to "when no scene lights", rather than "never" under render settings. Alternatively, if you have creted your own camera instead of using one of the default views, you can turn the headlamp "on" or "off" under the camera settings, as well as adjust the intensity of the headlamp.

If you are using Iray you can adjust the overall brightness by changing the exposure. Go to the Render Settings tab and select Tone Mapping. You can adjust it like a real camera setting the shutter speed, aperture and film speed, or you can just use the Exposure Value slider.
