Greetings (finally!)
I'm a bit embarrassed about this, but I've been tinkering with D|S for a few months now and haven't made an appearance here on the forums until now. Shame on me!
Anyway, I'm pretty new to the 3d world and have discovered wonders beyond what I initially expected when I first downloaded D|S. My only regret is not getting into 3d art until this year. I have A LOT of catching up to do and many, many, many models and items to acquire, to be sure! I've already amassed a pretty nice collection of the magnificent and beautiful products the 3d community has offered up for sale. I would eventually like to get into the creation aspect of 3d art too, but for now I'm content in creating renders using the items others have created.
Along the way, I've come across situations that have raised questions, but didn't know who to contact to (hopefully) get them answered. Now that I've discovered there is an active community here @ Daz I'll be sure to involve myself more. Maybe in time I'll even be able to help someone else :)
To close out my greeting, I have two questions to pose to you all, and hope that either, or even both, can be answered.
The first question I have regards scene animations. I'm very interested in not just making still art but animations too. I've been dabbling with creating animations using the D|S timeline (aniBlocks just doesn't seem to offer the flexibility I'm looking for). Recently I've discovered two of my lengthy animations have just ... disappeared. The latest one took me two weeks of constant work and was 420 frames long. When I loaded up the scene last night all but the first 30 frames were just gone. This is the first time this has happened to me and I don't know what the heck happened. Unfortunately I didn't notice the missing frames until after I had added some lighting to the scene, saved it, then went to run the animation to make sure the lighting was set up. That's when I saw almost 400 frames gone. Has this happened to anyone else, or does anyone have an idea as to why these frames just disappeared?
My second question is much shorter, but still as important. I've been searching multiple sites for this one particular hair prop and I just can't seem to find it anywhere. It's a pair of French braids with the nape of the neck low, like you'd see a young girl wear. I've found some other hair props similar to this but they don't look completely the same. I'm going to try to find the picture where I first noticed this hair style and post it here so you can see what I'm talking about. I've seen this hair in multiple pictures, both here and at Renderosity so I think it may be an older prop but don't quote me on that.
So I'll close by saying hello again and thanks for reading this mess! :)

Welcome to the DAZ forums, and to your latest addiction. I don't know the answer to the first question, as I'm not really into animation at all, but I think the hair prop you're looking for is here in the DAZ Store.
It's the Xylia Double French Braids by AprilYSH --> http://www.daz3d.com/xylia-double-french-braids
Welcome to Daz. I've not really come across the animation issue myself, but I can assure you that's not working as intended. Assuming you've checked the obvious (eg. you're loading the most current and up-to-date file), there may be a serious bug which needs addressing. Another possible thought is that those 30 missing frames were made using the AniBlocks system but not 'baked' into the main timeline. This would account for the missing animation, though I confess I'm not sure how to bake in frames anywhere except the end of the current animation timeline.
Maybe someone with better skills than I can help you further.
Welcome! The cummunity is awesome here, so don't shy to ask if you need help :D
Hi Miss B, and thanks!
You know, I believe I came across April's French Braids hair a while ago, but now the more I look it at I do believe that is in fact the hair I've been looking for. As I suspected it is older. I know hair and shoes are two of the most difficult props to fit as the model generations progress so I'm very wary about picking it up and experimenting, especially considering the price. I work mainly with Genesis and the gen 5 models; any idea if that hair would fit?
Thanks Herald and Estroyer!
I doubt aniBlocks has anything to do with what I've experienced regarding the disappearing timeline frames, but the more I think about it (and I'm still a little POed about it) I'm wondering if the scene just didn't completely load and then when I saved there was no turning back.
From now on the first thing I'm going to do is check all scenes I load and make sure the whole timeline loaded before doing any more work. It's probably not a bad idea for anyone who works with the TL to do the same. I'd hate for this to happen to someone else.
